i’m curious whether any other pregnant bees are taking herbal supplements during pregnancy that were recommended to them by someone other than their doctor…
i recently visited an herbal specialist (she is actually my husband’s aunt, very well trained and knowledgeable, and i trust her very much). she gave us both consultations and recommended several natural supplements that support pregnancy and post-natal health — she recommended i take a high quality probiotic supplement to strengthen my and my baby’s immune and digestive systems (taken during pregnancy can also apparently help to prevent cholic and other digestive issues during infancy); cod liver oil supplement, which contains more potent forms of DHA, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins A & D than synthetic versions sold in the avg drug store and good for the baby’s brain and eye development; and rasberry leaf tea daily to help strengthen my uterus for labor and delivery (i’m in my 3rd trimester).
everything i’ve read online seems to support that all of these supplements are beneficial during pregnancy. are/have any of you taken these during pregnancy, and did you notice any positive results?
the other thing she recommended i take is chickweed to address skin issues i’ve had throughout my life (exceme, acne, allergies) — she says it’s mild enough for use during pregnancy but everything i have read online says pregnant and nursing women should avoid it cause there’s not enough evidence as to it’s safety…so i think i’ll just wait on that one!
what do ya’ll think?
