So here was our problem. I was raised Cathloic and Mr. Wine-o was raised Baptist. Both of our families still practice regularly and neither one of us are into organized religion at this point in our lives so we thought…who should we get to marry us.
I had a co-worker (yes had, I don’t work there any longer…you know…since I moved away) who married my old boss and also plays in a band and we thought…that’s what we want. We love this guy and he is entertaining and comfortable in front of a croud. Trouble was, he was moving to NYC in July.
We went to one of his shows a couple weeks ago and found out that his moving “thing” fell through so he could do it for us. No, ofcourse, he was bummed but I just couldn’t have been happier at that moment. I hated how selfish I was when I heard the news, but all I could think about was THANK GOODNESS we found someone to marry us!
So he has now said he is not only going to marry us, but do it for free. I couldn’t ask for better. We had already booked the DJ so we couldn’t hire his band but at least he can still be part of our ceremony.
I do have a question, however. Do you think I should have him sign a contract saying he will be there? There is no money being exchanged and he’s our friend so I trust him and don’t want to insult him by making him sign a contract but this is something that would REALLY screw us over if he didn’t show up. What do you think?
Who are you having marry you? Do they mean something to the both of you?
