I would for sure! But since it’s small how about just having a Maid/Matron of Honor and let them have their little vacation. Life is too short to fuss and fight about the details and you can’t make them do something they don’t want to do. They  will still be invited, just not BMs.

OMG same thing just happened to me. I picked my BM’s two years ago and one of them tells me last month that she doesn’t have the money to order her dress. She told me two years ago that the financial part would not be a problem for her and that she would start saving right away. Yeah, I ended up having to foot the bill for her dress until she has the $$ to pay me back. I feel your pain!! 🙁

That sucks big time!!  I would let them know that if being a bridesmaid is too much of a hardship for them, then they have the option to bow out.  It’s your wedding and if you want them to wear a certain style or color, then you’re entitled to that.  I don’t believe the etiquette book says anywhere that they get to dictate what they wear.  Sounds like they’re kind of immature… your bridesmaids are supposed to be your crew to back you up, not stress you out more!

What the hell…. seriously, some of the things I read here,  I just cannot believe.  What did you say to them when they told you that???

I would be upset! Your bridesmaids agreed to being in your wedding and purchasing dresses. They should have been saving up for this expense.

@pinkshoes: Haha! I was thinking the same thing!! How are there people out there that do this stuff? At least my Bridesmaid or Best Man had a valid excuse. But this, no excuse.

I’m sorry you have to deal with this!

Its one of the many things you will learn about your friends and family once the wedding rounds closer..they are imperfect, and will do things that will simply amaze you! If I got asked to be a bridesmaid 2 years in advance, I probably wouldn’t put my life on hold but I would be mindful of dates and financial capabilities.
