I’m March 2010 too! Let’s see, what have I done so far?

1. Booked ceremony & reception sites (difficult feat for my small town)
2. Chosen wedding party (FI still needs to ask a couple of his I think, but I’m done)
3. Booked photographer
4. Decided to do own food and possibly flowers
5. Picked out my dress & gave bridesmaids color to match own dress (not ordered yet)
6. Booked officiant and talked about counseling (can’t do it yet due to scheduling difficulties, but there is plenty of time)
7. My guest list is done, don’t have FI’s yet
8. Looked at cake designs & topper designs
9. Decided what we want to do for centerpieces

I think that’s it for now, doesn’t seem like much, but still just under a year out.

Wow! You are a busy bee (hehe pun intended) I think it’s great you are doing your research on all these things. I envy how organized you are!

It’s good to know that I’m not the only one who has been doing some serious planning…with almost a year to go…lol

So far we have booked the following:

  • Planner
  • Officiant
  • Venue
  • Photographer
  • DJ
  • Invitations
  • Baker

To be fair, the planner, officiant, baker and invitation vendor are all friends, so that makes things a bit easier

We have also met with several caterers, a bartending service, and a florist. I think I have found my dress and my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses. My fiancee is Scottish, so him and the guys are all set with their kilts and such – they will just need to be ordered. The one thing that we really need to get on is making the final decisions on the wedding party. We have been having some difficulty with that mostly b/c we don’t want a huge wedding party, and we don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.

I’m looking forward to hear how things are going as we move closer to March ’10!

I’m March 2010 too!  And becoming obsessed with planning!

So far I’ve booked the ceremony and reception location (same place), I’ve bought bridesmaids dresses (found them at a department store for $47 each on clearance – now I just need the girls to try them on to make sure they work) and bought flower girl dresses (clearance Easter dresses).  I’ve also built our wedding website and ordered our STD’s, and am fairly close to ordering invitations.

I’m in the process of looking for a photographer, determining ceremony/reception musicians, figuring out what my style is for flowers (location requires going through their floral dept, and they won’t meet with me til November, sniff). I’m also having a lot of fun researching the small stuff – am obsessed with researching favors right now.  I’ve also gone out to register – I know it’s early, but I’m currently unemployed and have been filling my time (when I am not job searching or interviewing) with the stuff I won’t have time for when I am employed again – I’m a workaholic.

I’m also reading Bridal Bargains and a few other wedding books for a bit each day.  And tracking down addresses for when we’re ready to start mailing things.

One disappointing thing – I was crushed to learn that my Maid/Matron of Honor (my sister) plans to do nothing related to the wedding other than show up – no parties, no dress shopping, nothing.  I’m really mad at myself for listening to my mother about my sister having to be the Maid/Matron of Honor (we’re not that close), as I feel like I’m going to miss out on some of the fun wedding related stuff.  My girlfriend who is a Bridesmaid or Best Man (and should have been MOH) would probably do all of that stuff if I asked, but I hate to do that!
