- Wedding: June 2011
Mr. Football and I have been engaged for a year already. We decided to move home to New England from California before we set our date. Shortly after we were nested, I was begging for us to set the date for our big day so I could seriously start planning. I am a very organized, get-things-done-in-advance-so-I-don’t-have-to-stress kind of girl. So we set our date for June 10, 2011 giving us PLENTY of time for an organized, stress-free planning (hopeful, I know).
So here we are, this past weekend, one-year away from our big day. While at a pig roast with clost friends, I decided to give our friends 4-year-old daughter a piggy back ride. Definately not the smartest thing given that I have never been known to have any form of grace in my step. So as I was coming to a stop after making a round through the yard, I tripped on the string holding a tent down. While I was falling my mother insticts (that I shouldn’t have since I don’t have any children) kicked in. Instead of blocking my fall, both of my arms wrapped around the toddler to protect her head from hitting the pavement and I sacraficed my own face.
My face smashed on the pavement and blood instantly was pouring from all facets of my face. Turns out, in addition to the cuts all over my face and the extreme swelling, I fractured a front tooth that needed to be pulled out and fractured my jaw. Helloooo liquid diet
Thankfully, a lot of my planning is done and I can put more focus on fixing my smile for the next year. Unfortunately, Mr. Football and I are paying for the wedding ourselves and dental insurance won’t cover most of the costs… so I apologize to the guests we need to cut from our list and I’m sorry for those who are coming and may not get to eat a gourmet meal.
On a positive note, my bridesmaids know what to get me for my shower… a helmet!
