@AussieSummer:  he is just leading you on and playing games.  don’t give in.  you’ve done so well up to this point.

after 5 years, he breaks up with you basically just to see if the grass is greener on the other side.  if it was me, he’d never be allowed back in my yard.

@Baal:  +1

OP, i have a feeling this is just another one of his ploys to make sure you don’t move on.

@KittyCatToe:  He already knows you and now he wants you to sell him on you?

That’s what it sounds like to me.

@AussieSummer:  But you are asking about making him wait an extra day to meet. No, it is not rude. All the points you made are completely valid. I would not have an important meaningful conversation after drinking alcohol and seeing each other for the first time again – you’ll be emotional. Not to say you won’t be the day after, but emotions may be more in-check then.

Please make sure he is what you want, because he is being wishy-washy with your feelings, and that’s not ok.

Good luck! 🙂

Normally I would agree with PPs that 5 years is enough to know whether your SO is the one.  But you’re 21, right?  I presume your ex is around the same age.  I think it’s acceptable for someone in their early 20s to not know what he wants.  You two have changed over the last 5 years, and you’re going to change over the next 5 years.  I think it’s fine to meet with him and fine to wait until Sunday.  Just don’t let him jerk you around at or after this meeting.

@AussieSummer:  wait till Sunday. That gives you a chance to think about all the things you are going to discuss specifically – not that you probably haven’t already! And talking sans alcohol is a smart choice.

I have been following your posts and I wish you the best of luck! I hope it all works out for you!
