    I fiddle around with my birth control all the time to avoid my period at less than ideal times.  If you’re close to the end of your pack though, I would say to skip straight through now, and have the period before your wedding earlier than trying to do it RIGHT at the time of your wedding, as it sometimes doesn’t work.

    Also – disclaimer: talk it over with your doctor, and also getting “accidentally” pregnant hasn’t been a huge scary thing for us in a long time, so be aware of potential consequences and use a backup method.

    OMG, don’t do depo!  I have had patients bleed the entire 3 months!  Skip the sugar pills if you have a pill that doesn’t fluctuate, or start your regular pills again after 3-4 days of breakthrough bleeding.

    I do but I’m on the nuvaring so I skip that week and put in a new ring every month. I do it three months at a time. Hasn’t given me any problems and been doing it for a few years.

    Sorry to hijack the thread, but if you skip the placebo pills and start a new active pack to skip your period, is there a higher risk of getting pregnant?

    No, the placebo pills are just there to let you withdraw bleed, and are only there to helo you rememeber not to take more than a 7 day break from the pill.

    Yes. My Doctor says you can skip it up to three times in a row, as long as you’ve already been on it a while.

    I took my pill back to back for three months when I was backpacking in Asia. Didn’t do me any harm.

    I don’t know how true it is but someone told me that the only reason there’s a gap in the pill for your period is because doctors at the time felt that women found a period “comforting”.

    I am on the patch and I have done it several times.. I’ve never had a problem with any breakthrough bleeding or anything.. My doc says its completely safe for 3 months at a time.. On my 3rd week of patches, I simply start a new pack instead of being patch-free that week.. and no period… i ahve also done it when I was on pills as well.. same way… take 3 weeks worth.. instaead of placebos, take a new pack on your 4th week… adn viola!!! good luck!

    @GeekChic:

    No- I have endometriosis and the doctor has ordered me to skip my periods every month. (prevents it getting worse) Your body thinks you’re pregnant– and it’s not medically necessary to have a period when you’re on the pill. (I spot like twice a year and have one the next month that I do). It’d be just fine to do it once– I can’t imagine trying to deal with yourself in a white dress!! Ack!

    About 5 months before the wedding I started playing with my meds to time it just right. I always feel like I start to bloat 2 weeks before.. so I’m making sure I feel my skinniest on my wedding day and honeymoon!
