Has anyone had a Herman? I’ve just been gifted with him, and he’s looking a bit flat and sad right now. I’m hoping he’ll start bubbling again soon.
Will anyone else share their Herman adventure?

My Future Father-In-Law had a Herman but he’d just given him away by the time I visited 🙁
No advice, but just wanted to comment as I think they’re awesome!
I’m new to this, what is it? Like a friendship bread?
FYI: I laughed when I seen the title, my mother’s maiden name was Herman and her grandfather was from Germany lol
It’s basically a bread/cake mix with live yeast in it. You stir it every day and ‘feed’ it on flour milk and sugar a couple of times over 9 days. On the 9th day you split it into 4, and give 3 parts away to friends. The last batch you add apples and cinnamon to, then cook him.
The 3 parts you give away then go through the same process, with them being grown, stirred and fed for 9 days, then split and given away.
So he keeps growing and splitting and growing and splitting as he’s given to friends, and friends of friends etc.
Mine started bubbling and looking much better after a couple of days, especially after I fed him for the first time. Today is splitting day – I’m just looking for some of my friends who haven’t already got one!
