Fiance used to call me “wife” all the time. I guess technically still does.. it’s maddening!! We actually bickered about it in front of my boss, how embarrassing! It sounds like you set him straight a lot sweeter than I used to ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m trying to be better.

Haha yes. I know what you mean. We will be engaged soon-ish too so it can be hard to refrain, but I think it’s important to enjoy each phase of the relationship…so “boyfriend” it is! ๐Ÿ˜›

Haha I have a feeling that they like to do that! Mine would get on one knee and say “[my first & last name], will you…..help me tie my shoe?” or things like that. I got to the point where I’d just play along until he actually did the real thing

He ran into our landlords’ son the other day, and the son asked him about his “wife”… he didn’t correct the guy, but that’s because I had actually referred to him as my fiance when we were applying for apartments (he lived halfway across the country before we moved in together, so I had to apartment hunt without him)… not as a tease, but because it sounds more serious/permanent than “boyfriend” and I didn’t want to potentially get denied an apartment because of it, if that makes sense. I told him I was doing it, and he didn’t mind, but it still felt weird.

BUT, my mom and some friends are calling him my “fiance” already… now that we have a timeline I’ve been gushing about plans to friends and family so I guess they already see him that way. I need to stick a sock in it so I can save some of the excitement for when we are actually engaged!

@MusiqueEstVie:  Haha, mine did that, except that he got down on one knee and asked me to… go shopping for a blender with him. It was pretty early on into our relationship, so in the 5 seconds or so that I thought it might be a real proposal, I was freaked the hell out!

Fiance called me “Wife” once or twice before we were engaged. I told him, “EXCUSE me, but you don’t get to call me that!” He said he could because we were “Common-Law” at the time. I wasn’t having any of that and told him he wasn’t allowed to call me that until we said I Do. He proposed about 8 months later….

@Britk:  We’re common law and he still refers to me as a gf which bugs me kinda but nothing much!!! We’ve only lived together for 2 years now and have everything a married couple is supposed to have, save for …..being married……lol!!!!!

My fiance calls me his wife a lot, usually when he’s making a joking remark about how I need to know my proper place as a woman…he loves to rile me up

SO and I have both said we felt “boyfriend/girlfriend” doesnt’ represent us.  I’m 35 and I live with this man, and he’s only my “boyfriend”?  Just isn’t quite right.  ๐Ÿ™‚  Fiance soon enough for us though, right!?

@Britk:  I didn’t think another man would use the “engaged to be engaged” line like my SO did, makes me feel better!

@Britk:  Don’t feel bad, mine gones back and forth from butthead to dumb***. I know he loves me though and I’m pretty sure he’s going to propose this year so I TRY to keep calm and not say anything, doesn’t work to well but I do my best.

I’m excited to see how soon this happens for you! ๐Ÿ˜€

My SO is constantly calling me “The Wife.”  He has been having issues with his vehicle and was looking to trade/purchase a new one.  While talking with the salesman, he said “I’ll have to talk it over with the wife.”  Then he was looking to modify said vehicle some and went to get prices to which he told the salesguy, “I’ll have to talk with the wife, if I did it with out her she wouldn’t be happy.”  He’s even said the same thing in front of me while we’re looking at appliances, etc for the kitchen (of a home that we don’t own but rent but have been told we can replace the appliances and save the money off the rent).  It is very much teasing, but if I say “hubby”, “hubster,” or “Husband” he doesn’t like it.  So why is it one way and not the other? LOL.
