I figured if I’m going to join this site I should probably start at the begining.
How we met…my version…
I moved to Oklahoma City May 2008 after 4 years of Active Duty with the USAF in hopes that “The City” would offer good job potential and great Christian friends. (Who am I kidding…and a husband too!) The first few months were very challenging as I only knew two people here and I quickly began to lose the hope of finding a permanent job. Near the middle of June I began to feel that maybe OKC was not where I should be. I had not found a church family and had told my Mother I would be moving home soon. My parents were down one weekend and we passed a huge church and decided I should visit. The next Sunday I slipped into a back pew and filled out a visitor’s card. I got a call that Wednesday inviting me back. The next Sunday I returned to the church for Sunday School and arrived in time to play Bible Jeopardy. Twenty minutes into jeopardy the man of my dreams walks in the door. He was cute, funny and he knew his Bible. The next months were spent “chasing” him and hoping he’d see that I liked him. After inviting him to many get-togethers I finally decided I wasn’t going to ask him to hang out again. That night he called me and asked ME out to dinner and now here we are!
I met Miss Purple Peacock when I went to church one morning where my brother in law Will was the teacher. She was very impressed at how I was schooling everybody in bible trivia that morning. She must have thought “who’s this great looking Baptist and where did he get that bible knowledge?” Of course the joke was on her cause her dream to meet a young Baptist man would be crushed because I was Methodist!?!?! She was invited to attend bible study at my brother in law’s house later that night. While playing a game I asked her if she spelled her name with an “I” or a “y”. When she said “y?” I replied, “because I asked that’s why.” I thought it was a pretty corny line but my sister Amy and Miss Purple Peacock were just cracking up. Well, a week or two later we had gone out for some pizza with the group and she sat next to me. I could kind of sense that she might have had an interest in me. However, my suspicions were confirmed whenever she found me on myspace and asked me to be her friend and we started to talk. Her version is that she felt like she had to chase me forever. However, I knew she liked me pretty early on but I just wanted to be cautious and get to know her before we really started dating. The rest is history.
Now that you know how we met I will share how he proposed!
Mr. Purple Peacock’s proposal was very special and all about memories! Before we had started dating we had gone with friends out to the Bricktown Zio’s for dinner followed by a movie. While walking back to the cars and in attempt to flirt with him I pushed him into a huge bush behind the Sonic Corp. building. Him being so slender he flew into the bush much easier than I had expected! Surprisingly shortly after this we started dating. When we go to Bricktown we usually park at Bass Pro, walk by our special landmark and reminisce. Saturday March 6th he took me to Zio’s again, this time to meet an old friend of his and of course we walked our special walk and laughed as we passed “our bush”. After dinner we started our walk back to the car. When we got to our bush he pushed me until I was in the center of the bush as I whispered, “Babe people are going to think you are beating me!” It was at that time that he got down on one knee and dug a white box out of his coat pocket and asked me that very special question…WILL YOU MARRY ME? I said YES!!
As you can see, we are all about fun and games! I love his funny self and he truly is the cheese to my macaroni!
