I am going to be horribly honest and direct (I’m Dutch, right haha) but there’s elaborate and there’s cheap. In my opinion, a lot of the dresses you posted would fall under “cheap”. Ultimately, it’s your choice and you should pick something which you’d be happy in.

I really like that JA dress (AmuseMeMusically) but I would classify that as European princess rather than Barbie Princess:D

@MzJynxie:  I really love Disney princess ballgowns (the last one you posted is gorgeous, and just so breathtaking to me! Reminds me of Cindrella… I honestly wish I could wear these all the time as my everyday clothes, but I was born in the wrong era!!!!!) and I think mine could be “called” a ballgown…  I really have to find the plug for my camera!

@EffieTrinket:  I seriously condidered that dress, it was one of my favorites! 🙂  It’s beautiful.  How are you planning to alter the top part?

I ended up going with a Kate Middleton look alike dress though cuz my Fiance liked it better hehe  He doesn’t know what dress I ended up getting, but when we were discussing what we liked and didn’t like (before I went shopping) that was the one he kept showing me pics of and saying “You would look so beautiful in this” and when I went shopping, it did look quite nice on me.  Wonder what he’ll think when I walk down the aisle wearing the dress he picked for me without knowing it hehe

Just an idea for now, but this is what I think of when I hear the word elaborate. I just love this dress!

My dress is pretty elaborate. One of the reasons I love it! Maggie’s Priscilla

I absolutely love ball gowns. I prefer them without all the beading, though. Too many rhinestones can overwhelm the dress.

Ah I love the elaborate ball gowns! My dream dress was Maggie Sottero’s Decadence but when I tried it on, the dress felt too big on me as I am petite and I felt that the ball gown style didn’t emphasize my figure enough. I ended up going with Maggie Sottero Kendra as the fit on that dress showed off my figure more and it is still Aline so with a big petticoat I am hoping I still get the princess factor that I had with the ball gowns. But when I look at the gorgeous pics I start to second guess my decision. I’m wondering if Kendra isn’t a little too plain now. Ugh the dreaded dress regret!

The top of my dress was incredibly elaborate with beading. It definitely wasn’t what I thought I would end up with.
