This is so lovely! It looks like it belongs on one of those Instagram accounts I’m obsessed with, :).

I wish I had some pictures of mine, but it was so unexpected! It happened NYE, <3.

Fiance planned a romantic Memorial Day weekend trip to the upper peninsula of MI. I had suspicions that he was going to propose, and I was right! We are so in sync.

BrideAddict92: Ahh! How exciting about your upcoming proposal! Do you have any ideas when it might be? 🙂

Fiance took me away for the weekend right when all the leaves were changing colors — it was absolutely beautiful.  We went hiking through a state park, and when we got to the lighthouse, he pulled out a Shutterfly photo book that he had made with pictures from my childhood all the way through our relationship.  On each page, there was a line of a poem that he wrote for me.  It was so thoughtful, and I love looking at it to remember how he asked!

Here is a picture of the colorful trees, and another of my ring that I took shortly after getting engaged!

for my birthday, my then boyfriend gifted me a trip – the deal was either i could choose where, or he could book it all and surprise me. i chose the surprise, and a month later we were off to spain! the night he proposed we went for wine and tapas in the old town and walked from restaurant to restaurant having more wine and tapas and reminiscing about all the trips we’ve taken together. it was totally magical, and when we got back to our hotel room, he surprised me down on one knee! the next day we went for what we now call ‘the yolo lunch’ because it was an indulgent seafood lunch at a fancy yacht club to celebrate! we stillllllll talk about that lunch hahah can you tell we love to eat and travel?!

When my DH decided it was time for us to get engaged, we went to a wholesale/custom jeweler recommended by one of DH’s really good friends. (Keep in mind this was quite some time ago, way before internet and easy access to custom jewelry work — ha, ha!) Anyhow, neither of us knew a thing about rings or diamonds, so we spent a whole day with one of this company’s sales people, learning anything and everything about diamonds and settings, etc. We picked out a stone and a setting.

When the ring was ready, we went together to pick it up. This was all DH’s choice. He didn’t want to pick out the ring, and he didn’t want to go alone to pick it up, either. I guess we weren’t thinking about what was traditional or whatever. We were just enjoying our time together, and enjoying sharing all the excitement with each other. We were silly kids — LOL.

After we picked up the ring, I figured that was that. That DH would later propose in whatever way he wanted to. He had told me, all along, that he had a plan. So, I was resolved to be patient.

But (!!) …

Apparently, DH is much less patient than me — ha, ha! The jeweler’s was located on an upper floor of an office building, and we were taking the stairs back down to our car. DH stopped me about halfway down and got on one knee — right there in the stairwell with the dingy paint and the gray stair rails and all the noises echoing around us from up above. He looked up at me, opened the ring box, smiled, and asked, “Will you marry me and make me the happiest man in the world?”

Maybe it wasn’t romantic or special compared to so many of the incredible stories I love to read about here on WB. It wasn’t a big production, and it definitely was unplanned — ha, ha! But, to me, it was perfect and romantic and really beautiful. I still remember the look on his face and the words that he said. And it still makes me tear up just a bit every time I think about it.

Later, DH told me the ring was burning a hole in his pocket, and he couldn’t wait to give it to me. Ah … love. <3

This was my engagement ring: (Sorry for the long post! >.O)

My Fiance and I were on vacation in Florida when he proposed. We had been planning the trip for a year as a getaway for our 30th bdays and as a way to get some alone time away from our kids! He told me I was in charge of planning the whole trip, which I didn’t like, so I made him agree to plan one day. He took me to the Kraft Azalea Gardens (see pics below) and as we were getting ready to leave he got down on one knee and asked! It was so beautiful and I loved that it was right on the water.
