I’m actually considering having a step of sorts at the ceremony for me to stand on, so I can look my future husband in the eyes at the same level. … he’s 6’4″ and I’m about 4’11”.
We also added a bustle for $100, added a small amount of crinoline to the back $50, and the dress is being taken in slightly at the bust $75
Finally, they are velcroing (is this a word?) my longline bra to the dress so that it helps support the dress and the dress doesnt keep slipping down all night to expose the bra. $25
Total – $425 + tax. Ouch… Oh well, after what I’ve already spent what’s a few hundred more…
My next fitting is 9/14 – I’ll try to remember to take photos and post them. Thanks for everyone’s advice and kind words – I truly appreciate it.
I’m almost 5’2 and have 4 inch heels on. It still needs to be hemmed a little bit more.
I’m 5’2 and paid extra for the hollow to hem measurement. Dress was made to my exact height with heels on.
Yay for shorties! I am 5’2″ and here is my dress, though it’s not been altered in this pic!
This is such a great thread! I was having second thoughts about purchasing a dress with a little volume on the bottom, but now I’m seeing so many of you pull it off well that it makes me feel a lot better!
I would love to hear what kinds of alterations you all had to do. There’s obviously the hem for most of us, but I’m getting the zipper changed to a corset & they recommended lowering the neckline because it hits me a little high, especially under my arms. Have any of you had to do that? I’m also thinking of changing it to a sweetheart. I’m a little anxious to see how it will turn out, but my wedding isn’t until next summer and I have to wait. Do you guys have any other tips or recommendations for alterations that help with our stature?
