Hi Lucky! The wedding planning is going great – our date isn’t until June, 6, 2009 – so a little over a year away. So far I’ve made the big deicsions. We’re getting married at Duncan Memorial Chapel and are having the reception at Woodhaven Country Club, they do in-house catering, so that’s one last thing I have to worry about. I have my photographer, dress, setup and tear down and all the decorating, and my stepmom is meeting with the cake person this week for me (same woman who created my sisters cake a year ago.) We have a very small budget (around 6K) so planning has been tough, we’ve made a lot of compromises but I’m definitely glad I’ve had time to find the good deals. I’m in the same boat as you, I keep second guessing every little thing…I’ll have to get over that.

LotusMoss, your wedding sounds like it is going to be absolutely gorgeous!

hey luckyinky–awesome link.  Wish I would’ve known about this earlier!  We’re using a lot of vendors that we know, but since KY is kind of a smaller crowd, I found it hard to find vendors with reviews/experience, or that we felt we could trust.  As for keeping it simple–I’m with you!  Ours hasn’t turned out that way really, but one of the things I’ve loved is picking vendors that I trust and then letting them make the decisions (i.e., I don’t really know what flowers we’ll have, but I’m sure they’re going to be beautiful).  So many people focus on the details and then forget about the important stuff–like the ceremony, and just having fun with friends and family.

msbutton–the Duncan Memorial is beautiful–love the slate floors!  I can’t believe you have so much done and the wedding is still a year away!

Glad you like the site.  I actually put it together and hope people continue to write reviews. The biggest challenge so far has been finding vendors with reviews, so I feel comforted in my decisions! I am in Chicago and can’t meet with every vendor and even when you do I feel they are going to show you their best which may or may not be the quality or professionalism they show on the wedding day (I’m paranoid hehe!).

I’m trying to keep it simple but it probably won’t come off that way ๐Ÿ™‚ We have bought chandeliers for the trees around the ceremony site. We are trying to avoid a tent altogether and have stringed lights hung over the reception area with white lanterns (evening wedding). We have gold tree centerpieces for the tables. Since it is the fall we are probably going to decorate with pumpkins/gourds and other fall foliage. But we are trying to do as much ourselves as possible with the help of family. Most of our details are here

Msbutton: Agree duncan memorial is lovely! My mom wanted me to choose this site.  Had I done the church wedding I probably would have went this way.  Are you an oldham county bride?

LotusMoss: Thanks! Yeah, I’m a little ahead of myself sometimes, I think. I’m kind of a control freak, can you tell? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lucky: No, I’ve pretty much lived in every area in Louisville, I was born and lived in Valley Station until I was 9 – then we moved to Middletown – then my mom moved to Jeffersontown and then I moved to Cincinnatti for school and then transferred schools and moved to Columbia, MO to attend an all girls university. I’ve lived just about everywhere but oldham county! What part of KY are you from?

hwong- We haven’t found our cake vendor yet, I’ll keep you posted! I really wanted to have our reception at Glassworks and get married on the rooftop but it was totally out of our budget once we realized we’d have to rent linens, approved caterer list, etc. I really like our reception site, but I’d have to say Glassworks would’ve been my dream wedding ๐Ÿ™‚ Life is always a compromise…
