I don’t know anything about your area but there are ways to save and have the wedding you want on your budget.  You might have to cut some stuff, sompromise on others and haggle a few vendors.

Ways to save:

Ipod reception instead of a dj

$99 sale dress from DB

DIY items: gater, ring pillow, cardbox, centerpieces

Dollar tree for decorative items

Grocery store cake

Appetizer style reception (meat and cheese trays from the supermarket)

No alcohol

Novice photographer

And call in any favors from talented friends.

– Do you own makeup.

– Do your own hair, if possible. Otherwise, go to a place that only does blowouts, vs a full-fledged salon or having someone drive out.

– Cut down on the bridal party or don’t have one. Saves you gifts, bouquets, bouts, etc.

-Check out public parks or government-owned/non-profit venues.

– Smaller guest list.

(Be careful with DIY. Depending on how many tools you need to buy and the materials involved, you may end up spending more than if you just bought it on sale/pre-loved.)

I would definitely look into using a venue that is free or low-cost like city parks, beaches etc. Even a friend’s back yard would be a great option.

I helped a friend with a $3,000 budget wedding held at her parent’s house and it was lovely. For flowers she purchased them at a local grocery store (Costco is probably cheaper) and we arranged simple wildflower centerpieces in glass jars. They looked amazing.

Oh and don’t underestimate the power and awesomeness of a string of lights when it comes to decor. Who knew so much power could be had by something that costs a dollar or two!?!
