Yup, we have always had a pickle on our tree at home and this year my mom bought us all pickles for our own trees at Crate and Barrel.

I actually DO know what you’re talking about, that’s such a sweet tradition! We always have a pickle ornament that we hide and tuck way back in the tree, but we don’t do anything special for it. I guess that sort of defeats the purpose, hah!

I haven’t played hide the pickle in YEARS! Our ceramic pickle broke in the tragic Cat vs. Tree incident of 1998. I had completely forgotten about it until now!

I think I might have to reinstate this awesome tradition as well..now to find the right pickle 😛

@CaraMia10: LOL I thought the same thing!

I’ve always seen a pickle ornament and could never figure out why someone would want a pickle on their tree!

For some reason when I read the title, I immediately thought of the really dirty old man in ‘Grumpy Old Men’ who’s always wanting to ‘hide the cannoli’! Lol! I’d never heard of this tradition, but it sounds like a fun one. Kinda makes me wanna be part of a German family, lol!

We have a pickle, but it’s just there for amusement.  I think it’s a nice tradition, though 🙂

How fun! I’ve never heard of that tradition!

@JeniRae: That is SO funny because I saw that pickle ornament at Crate & Barrel and was thinking about how bizarre that was, but I just figured that they have an ornament for everything. Now it makes sense!
