    A really easy solution, cover the base in fondant the same colour as your cake. You can even make it look like pretty lace if you use a crimper to make a pattern around the edge. Something like this… but in a less hideous colour:

    Or get some pretty eatable paper for the plate and cover the edge with a thin ribbon in a matching colour!

    Talk to the person who makes the cake about the fondant option, the second one you can easily do yourself if you want to save money (the first one is doable as well, but requires a little more work an YouTube-ing). Also, I do cakes on the side for charity – so send me a PM if you want to do it yourself but need help!

    The base doesn’t have to be silver.What about one that matches the cake..gold or champagne. The cake is gorgeous. I think people will be looking at that…
