I’m going to the doctor, but I wanted to know if anyone else experienced what I have been experiencing. Or might have any ideas on what’s going on with me.
I love working out. I used to hate it, but now that I’ve gotten into it and found what I like to do, I love it. I do a lot of the P90X and Beachbody workouts. Used to run but always hated it, would always feel fatigued and get chest pains. Now, while working out (I’ve started taking a real notice, but know it’s been going on for years now) I will start out at about a 55 resting heart rate, 80-90 during warm up and as soon as I get to the workout, my heart rate will shoot up to about 195-225(!). Obviously, I thought my heart rate monitor was incorrect. My Darling Husband tried it out and it worked perfectly for him.
Other things I noticed. All of a sudden I’ll feel like I don’t have enough air in my lungs and have to take a deep breath, it sounds like I’m drowning when I do it because of how much air I have to take in. I get chest tightness and I can tell when my heart rate is about to shoot up because of this. I get faint and even lose vision. The weirdest part to me — the rest of me doesn’t even feel like I’m working out all that hard. I did yoga today and my heart rate was at 195!!
Other symptoms I’ve noticed is that when I get nervous or anxious I can literally feel my heart beating out of my chest and if I hold my breath for a second, my heart can skip a beat.
I’m going to the doctor tomorrow for a blood test and next week for an EKG. I’m lucky that my doctor’s husband is a cardiologist and I will be talking with him next, But I’m really scared. I’m scared I won’t be able to work out again and gain all that weight I worked so hard to lose. I’m worried there’s something truely wrong with my heart. Please keep me in your thoughts the next couple days…I’m really scared.

Hope everything goes okay! Mine does that too sometimes, especially with the anxiety/stress part. I have a RHR of at least 80 though, which to me is high but I’ve heard it’s normal so…keep us updated and I hope all goes well!

@MrsCoachBtoBee:Thanks…I think I’m freaking myself out…but it’s pretty scary. Hopefully it’s nothing!

I’ve never had the breathing issues but my heart rate is always really, really high when I work out (even just light jogging and such). I’ve never been worried about it though. My resting heart rate is fine and my heart rate returns to normal very quickly upon completing exercise.

I had similar symptoms a few years ago, and was diagnosed with exercise-induced asthma! Good luck at your appointment!

Wow…that’s a really high heart rate! Just wanted to stop in and tell you that I’m praying for you and hopefully there isn’t anything wrong with your heart!
I also have a high resting heartrate (around 80 bpm) and when I exercise, my max is usually around 180…so pretty high, but I definitely don’t feel light headed or lose vision. Definitely a good thing that you’re going to see your doctor! Good luck with everything!!

I experienced this while on birth control, and it stopped the minute I went off. Are you on hormones of any kind? Definitely see a doctor.

@jouissance:Actually, I am on birth control, but have been for years. Although these problems aren’t recent, I just noticed how high the heart rate was after I got a heart rate monitor. I’ll definitely ask my doctor tomorrow if this may be affecting me at all. My mom suggested the same thing, actually. But, I will say, my mom also mentioned my dad experienced similar symptoms (but, like me, hates to go to the doctor so hasn’t).
Thank you all for your thoughts! They mean a lot!!
