At our earlier ultrasounds our baby’s heartrate was in the 160’s, but now that I’m towards the end of my pregnancy (35 weeks) it has been in the 140’s. We are having a boy.

My daughter’s heartrate was consistently in the 140’s.

It’s pretty variable based on the stress the baby is currently experiencing, which is why it’s an unreliable indicator of sex. I love the guessing games that you get to play about the sex of a baby!

My boy’s heartrate was always in the middle to upper 150s if he was awake and in the middle to upper 140s when he was asleep.  My mom insisted he was a girl based on that alone and was proven wrong.

My baby’s HR was 140 at the last apt. and it’s a girl.

I was told girls steal your pretty. You have more hormones with them or they just go crazier, so you get acne and gain weight everywhere as opposed to just your belly. I know it’s probably crazy, but based on this I thought for sure girl and I was right.

@firsttimemom: I think it’s after a certain point that this is true. Like all babies have a higher heart-rate early on (10-18 weeks) and then it changes. I don’t know what the rate was but our boy always sounds like a galloping horse when they’ve done the doppler.

Based on heart rate, my Nanny (grandma) was told my uncle was a girl. Obviously, the heart rate lied.

@TheFutureMcBride:  Lol, and according to heart rate two of my sisters were supposed to be boys!

Addie’s heart rate was always in the mid 140’s to low 150’s; she was straddling the line, I guess!

Early on our boy’s HR was around 160 but now towards the end his HR has consistently been around 140/145.

Peanuts HR was in the high 160s at like 8 weeks, and 150s after that and she is a girl.  She also hasnt stolen any of my looks yet at 21 weeks lol.  I was terrified of that, but so far so good.  I love Bethenny Frankel, but her daughter seriously re-shaped her face during pregnancy.  I was like “WHAT IF I GET THAT BC SHES A GIRL?!?!?!”  My doctor said that that also was a wives tale =o)

Our girl’s heartrate has mainly been in the 150s sometimes in the 140s.  My husband said he was suspectful that it was a girl since we both have fairly low heartrates.

Apparently in parts of India girls it’s the superstition that girls are supposed to give the mom good looks instead of steal them away  My friends mom was over visiting from India and told me she knew from early on that I was having a girl because I got prettier (but I think she only thinks that because I got fatter, which to her = pretty, but that would have happened if I had a boy or a girl).
