Just a general late night wondering out loud question…do you guys all have weird/dumb/fun/wild stories of when you were a teenager and the shenanigans you and your friends got up to? I was super nerdy/dorky in both high school and college and was too busy to ever have any fun. Now I really regret not having any stories to tell of stupid stuff like pranks or proms or awkward dates or rebellion or whatever high schoolers supposedly do or did. Seems like every office I’ve ever worked at goes around at least once during lunch sharing stories of their younger days and I don’t have much to contribute.
Conversely, anyone have regrets from high school? Just thinking out loud tonight.

People who think their school years were the best of their life are boring! I have stories to tell but don’t particularly care to tell them because I was young and dumb. Much better to have adventures now and have recent stories to tell 🙂

High school? Ugh. I was a freakin theatre nerd (no suprise there), won a few scholarships from design work. My father brewed beer as a hobby and was out of town most of the time. We had a spare room with stacks of 6 packs of his homebrew in the closet. I had parties and we drank his beer, told him a decade later and he had no idea. We never made a dent in the supply. Lol. That did make me popular for a bit.
Anyone that knows me knows my stories after high school and undergrad are far better!

I was very studious in high school and college, but I had some fun memories of those times. Even if you weren’t a wild child, there were probably some cool things you did. Don’t feel bad about being a good kid. That work ethic got you to where you are today.
I do regret being a hermit during grad school. It should’ve been a great time to bond with my classmates who were going through the same intense program, but I was too shy and wasn’t into the drinking and such.

I hated high school with every once of my being. I wasn’t antisocial or lacked friends. I had a pretty, normal group of friends. But I just couldn’t stand high school and the people in it. I remember even as a freshmen thinking, ‘why do these people care so much? Do these people honestly think we’ll all remember who homecoming queen was?’. I just had a lot of irritation over the fact that everyone around me seemed so unaware of reality. It was like a giant, dramatic, tedious game.
I intentionally picked a college across the nation to escape. I remember walking out of my high school graduation and not saying by to a single person as they all cried and hugged each other. I just didn’t care about them. The next day I took the 25 hour car ride to my college. And that was when it all began. College was amazing. I met my SO, experienced amazing things (and regrets) met friends that I will keep in my life forever, and learned who I actually was. I also feel so confused when people said high school was the best years. They aren’t even in the same world, college was everything I had hoped it would be and more. But too many stories to tell 😂

I was pretty reserved in high school but one Saturday night my friend was staying over (she was pretty much over at my place every weekend) and my mum went out to a friends house, we were probably 16 at the time and thought ‘this is the night we sneak out’.
We spent ages getting the courage up, planning our escape, removing the flywire from my bedroom window so we could get back in undetected…
Hours pass and we finally decide ok lets do this (side note: we had no idea where we going or what we were going to do) and we leave the house walk up my street, get maybe three house up from mine, and who turns the corner driving back home? Yup my mum, my friend and I legged it back to my house, jumped over the bushes and tried to play it cool, but she knew what we were doing haha was the biggest fail!

My high school stories are not like the ones that the people at your office parties are telling, but I still think they were fun! I was definitely a nerdy kid, so my stories involved the silly little things that happened in theatre or band, or a little BBQs that we had on the weekend and got silly by deciding to do a surprise mock wedding. I don’t really have prom stories, rebellion stories, or date stories. But I like my stories, and I really only reminisce with them over my sister and all the friends from the time, so we all agree that it’s great.
