Fiance and I have been together since I was a sophmore in HS and he was a Senior! We moved in together my Sophmore year of college. He and I always knew we’d be together for the long haul. Sure, we had our doubts in the begining.. but we have always worked through everything together! We are getting married this August, after 9 years of dating. He waited to propose until I graduated with my BA (took me 6 years since I was also working full time) and he had a consistent career! Now we have both and will tie the knott in just 3 months!!!!!

We pseudo-dated in high school and in college dated other people – both recently got out of long term relationships and decided to get married this year (we always joked about marrying eachother before we turned 30 – which is next year!) It’s slightly more complicated than that, but it has been a wild ride!

This guy has been my best friend for almost 20 years – and we both kick ourselves for not doing this sooner – but it is PERFECT.

He was my high school sweetheart – it just took me 11 years to tell him.

KristenD9: We had been dating for 11.5 years including 5 years living together before getting engaged. We both wanted to be financially stable before getting into a wedding, and we already felt married, so it’s was more of a formality.

We started dating at 16/17 and got engaged at 25. We knew we were ready to be married because we’d both finished school, paid down our student debt and bought a house. We knew that we wanted to marry each other a lot earlier than that, but we both needed some time to get settled into our adult lives and enjoy the fruits of our academic labours before we got married. We’ll be married next Saturday and we can’t wait ๐Ÿ™‚

KristenD9: My Fiance had already graduated but we started dating while I was in my senior year. I’m 21 now and he’s 24. We’ve both finished college, have great full-time jobs, we bought a house together, and we have no debt. Now that we’re stable and comfortable with our lilves, we just felt like it was the right time to get married! ๐Ÿ™‚

KristenD9: We started dating offiically at 17/18 (I had just started grade 12, he was doing an extra year for “extra credit” – read, he wanted to date me and thought that now was the time). We got engaged about 2 and a bit years later when I was 19/he was 20. We will be 21/22 at the time of our wedding, although I will be just shy of my 22nd birthday, and he will be just shy of his 23rd (that is a weird number to think of haha). We knew when we were very young (we met when we were 12) that we loved each other and that there was something amazing between us. He told me when he was 14 that one day he would marry me ๐Ÿ™‚ Once we seriously started dating at 17/18 we knew immediately that this was it, and within 2 months he had gotten me a plain white gold wedding band as a “proxy ring” until he could afford to get me a nicer engagement ring (his desire) which of course he did. When you know, you just know.

We met when we were 11 at secondary school, and started going out when we were both 16. Engaged at 24, will be 25 when we get married next year.

We went to different universities, then I did a postgrad, he started his PhD, we moved in together a year a go when I got my teaching job and got engaged in March this year on our 8th anniversary :)

It was really important to both of us to get ourselves established and secure financially before marriage.
