Notre Dame’s colors are navy blue and gold…where is he getting the blue and green from?

ETA: Nevermind, I guess while the official colors are blue and gold, they have had green and gold jerseys for some seasons, which actually makes a lot more sense than blue and gold. They are pretty colors although not really what I’d consider wedding colors.

LOL.  If I hadn’t already settled on red, black, and silver I might have gone with Packers green and gold.

This is my FH’s encore wedding, but my first (edited to say, and my only!!).  He pretty much lets me do what I want, but I always run things by him first.  Oh man, has he shocked me a few times!  1) I showed him these beautiful ties for the groomsmen, dads, and ushers.. They were striped.  Little did I know, he DOESN”T like striped ties.  His response, “Stripes are for squares!”  I about fell over laughing and then had to spend about 3 hours scouring the internet for paisley ties that I liked!

2) We are having Karaoke at our wedding, an idea that came entirely from him, and I am all for!  We will have the dance part too.  But we are thinking about opening the karoake up at about 10pm… with us singing the first song!

3) And he very much wants to do the “steal the bride” after the ceremony and the reception… it is all at our house, will probably be semi-awkward when we say “check ya later,” but if it makes him happy! 🙂

Happy Planning!!!!

When we started getting catering quotes, he got freaked out and started insisting that we serve hot dogs instead.  It took me a while to talk that one down…

Yep, my Darling Husband is pretty knowledgeable about throwing a good party, so we made most (about 75%) of the decisions together. We planned an elegant, fall wedding, ceremony at 6pm, cocktail hour/reception immediately followed, in a historic building in the middle of gold coast, Chicago. He, a man who owns several custom made suits and formal tuxedo, wanted the dress code to be “dressy casual”. When he first said that, I started laughing, like you, assuming he was joking. But he was very serious that he just wanted people to be comfy, and maybe in jeans. We settled on semiformal.

I thought it was crazy my Fiance wanted carrot cake for our wedding cake.  I am not a fan! However, I caved and let him have it for the top layer!

He’d also wear an orange bow tie and/or vest if I let him. (I won’t cave on that!)

@TexasSpringBride:  Technically, its where the groomsmen “steal” the bride away from the groom and go bar-hopping, but all the ones I’ve been to, the groom comes too!  We would get a little party bus so all the bridal party, their siginificant others, and probably my parents (my dad likes to have a good time!) will go for about an hour or so.  🙂  It might be a midwest thing, I’m not sure!!

Haha.. oh haggis, that is funny!  We are doing a pig roast, if that helps… and FH wants red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting!  YUM!

@TexasSpringBride:  I hope, for your sake, haggis is off the menu!

Well I had blue, yellow and gray for my wedding so I’m sure I’m biased but blue and gold could be very pretty. Especially with the use of actual gold metallics for the centerpieces if a more vintage or royal look and feel is used.
