I am doing P90X now, and just did my end of Phase 1 (30 day) photos and measurments.  It is working great!  It is a big committment though (timewise), and is tought, so if you are gonna do it be ready to bring it.

There is a thread on here about some of the Bees P90X journey, join us there.

Anyone do P90X? And if so…what do you think?

I did P90X and I have a friend who swears by Hip Hop Abs.  If you want absolute results, P90X is the better choice but it is NOT EASY.  My FH and I play several sports and workout frequently and P90X was a serious workout.  By week 6 all of our previous sports related injuries (knees, back) were hurting pretty good.  If you have any injuries, P90X is going to be a tough go.

Plus, the time commitment is ridiculous….

Hip Hop Abs isn’t really a lifestyle change like P90X is, but is apparently a tonne of fun….if you’re going to go with HHA, then you’ll want to commit to another workout regime, like taking Zumba at your local gym or joining a running club.

It depends, sometimes it’s 45 mins but the Yoga DVD is 1.5 hours.  I practice yoga regularly and I rarely go to a yoga class that’s longer than an 1….plus yoga isn’t something you want to do without an instructor unless you know what you’re doing.

But P90X does provide results, although by the end, you will develop a serious HATE for the people on the dvd’s.

I wasn’t doing P90X to loose weight really – I play a lot of sports and workout a lot – so we were doing it more for building muscle, which I did.  At the beginning I could pump out about 10 push ups MAX and by the end I could do about 50-60 easily.

But my back injury was KILLING me the entire time, I needed cortisone injections and my FH had to rehab his bad knees.  So like I said before, if you have injuries, they will get way worse because of this program.

You will loose 20 pounds I think – P90X comes with an eating plan and everything is very structured.  I work with a lot of people who do P90X about twice a year and they drop a lot of weight and build muscle.  The only thing, is that muscle weighs more than fat so you might not loose 20 pounds but you’ll look like you lost it.  Does that make sense? Good luck!!!!!!!!

To save some money, you could probably find a used copy on craigslist?????

I have done P90X and Insanity both and they are extremely effective. They do take dedication but for someone who needs to drop weight or get toned fast there are great. 600 calories burned on the average workout and up to 1200 on some like Plyometrics. Beach Body Fitness has a lot of programs as well – they all aren’t as insane as P90X either.
