I can’t decide whether I want to hire a professional videographer or not for our wedding ceremony in May. My husband doesn’t want to spend the extra money (about $500 for filming the ceremony in Korea, where we are stationed), but one of our biggest regrets (or his) is that he didn’t film my epic reaction to his proposal and I think it might be worth it to hire a videographer. We didn’t really think of it until now and we’ve kind of gone over our budget on some things, so honestly we don’t have much room for it financially speaking.
My hubby is in the military and he suggests having his collegues and subordinates film a bunch of footages. This is a good idea, but I”m worried obviously.
I am torn.
Should I just bite the bullet and spend extra money on a videographer??

Do it, do it, do it! It is the most vivid and concrete way to reflect on your wedding day for the rest of your lives. I wouldn’t want to risk amateurs missing something important, not realizing they aren’t picking up sound, forgetting backup batteries, etc. Go with a pro!

its worth it. I love having a video of our wedding.

absolutely do it. this is a no brainer because you already know you will value a video. I’m hiring one for our wedding and have never given a second thought to the money allocated. all of my married friends who didn’t have a videographer regret it, even the ones who are really low key. Do it.

MrsOldach: im very big on having memories and something to look back on (pictures, videos, keepsakes). And i said do it. This was very important to me. You may be frustrated bc you are going over budget, but when you look back in 20 years, you will smile and be glad you did it.

MrsOldach: I’d say do it. I always thought why spend the extra money? And we were not going to but then when it boiled down to it we did book one. So I say do it 🙂

I believe a wedding video is a must-have. See it as a sentimental investment, you will be able to show it to your children and grandchildren. How precious is that? If you are worried about spending an outrageous amount of money there are always alternatives, like a wedding video app. I am using WeddingMix and I am so happy with my decision, they are affordable and I am sure my guests will enjoy using this app at my wedding.

Sounds like a great idea, but would you watch it? I like the idea of a photo montage with music. I think they’re lovely in that the most poignent and sentimental moments are captured. You could probably even do it yourself with an app. Just a thought 🙂

Do it! You won’t regret it! We decided pretty last minute to hire one, and seriously I am so glad we did! It’s also worth mentioning that a professional video will be way better than just getting people to film stuff on their iphones.
