@BrideEleven:  You know, we didn’t have a planner, and I got my cousin to step in as “day of coordinator” so that my bridal party, parents, in laws, and myself could enjoy the day.  And while that worked great for us, my instincts are that since you’re planning a destination wedding, you may feel much more comfortable having a planner!  I think it’s totally up to you. 🙂

I’d get a DOC, but probably wouldn’t get a full wedding planner.

If it’s in your budget, I would go for it!

We are not having a coordinator, and we’ve already been running into problems about who’s going to be setting up the reception and whatnot. Having a coordinator will help with ALOT of problems, however, it is a WANT not a need. It can be done without one, so only get it if you don’t need to sacrifice other things.

Yes, do it. I just hired a planner for the last two months up to my wedding last week, and it is ALREADY making things so much easier.

@BrideEleven:  my sister is a wedding planner in Hawaii. She is planning my wedding there. After finding out how much they do, I definitely would have one no matter where we were getting married!

I have a couple of months to go and I already think my planners are worth it.

They helped and given so many options. Also they expedited things, they know the feel and look we are going for, so they are able to edit our choices, and biggest thing they manage to rein my Fi in. Since they came on board they been extremely good at staying within our budget.

I think at the very least have doc if you are responsible for setting up at your venue.
