I am doing my own makeup and having someone do our hair. I was initially going to go with one person/company for everything though, because it seemed simpler.

@Merlin29:  I voted for 1 company because that’s what I had originally planned.  But I DIY’d my makeup for the engagement photos and after seeing how well it showed up in the photos and how nice it still looked that night (photos were at 9am), I’m going to do my own makeup but still have someone come do hair for me and the girls.

I mostly just wouldn’t want to deal with yet ANOTHER vendor by having different companies.

@Merlin29:  Speaking from a makeup artists point of view, I actually get a lot of requests to do makeup while another company is hired to do hair.  For my wedding I am hiring another mua friend of mine to do my hair and makeup and she will be bringing a few other freelance hair/mua she has worked with to do the rest of the bridal party.

Definitely two separate vendors but I haven’t really started shopping around for either of them

I think it just depends on who you find. Some stylists are really talented at BOTH hair and makeup. Others I’ve seen can do one well, but not the other. I personally found an amazing makeup artist and she does not do hair so I found someone else for hair. Good luck in your search!

I’m having two girls from the same salon, but they are coming over. I would recommend against DIY make-up unless you are REALLYYY confident in your skills because a profesisonal make-up artist will know how to do you up to look great in pics and last throughout the day.

Having said that- I do my own hair and make-up all the time, I just feel like being pampered on my wedding day 🙂

@Merlin29:  I am SEARCHING for  someone to do both. What’s your budget for this? Some are outrageous and I didn’t really budget for it, but don’t want to look hideous on my wedding day!

I was a bridemaid a week ago. The maids were all supposed to get the same style, and it ended up not looking like what the bride had described. I don’t know her fee for doing it, but there was a $500 fee just to travel to the venue, which was less than a 1/2 hour drive. My bridal party will be doing each other’s H&M.
