What about a  good ol’ plain Non-Denominational Christian pastor?

As a Southern Baptist I am not surprised at all. My pastor finds a way to fit cohabitation and drinking into almost every sermon. It really makes me question if I should still be going to that church. I grew up in that church and my family still goes and that makes it tough.

I think this really depends on the pastor and the church. And most places it is a bigger issue if the reception is at the church as well. I grew up in a SBC and still go to one, though a less crazy conservative one, and they wouldn’t allow dancing/drinking AT the church however my pastor wouldn’t not do my ceremony should I chose to have those things at my reception in another location. Someone you might look into is Assembly of God. On major theological points they are very similar to Baptists but have  a few difference (like dancing and drinking).

Pay for some one you love to be come an officant. My uncle who is a strong follower of the Lord married his neice and nephew in law because a similar situation. Honestly I bet it means more to them that a family member did the ceremony than a preacher who doesn’t know them that well.

@spinningstars: I know this is an older thread, but I grew up in Roanoke, and I just wanted to say hi!

I hope you found an officiant who is willing to work with you. My husband and I got married at Hollins University (neither of us was a student), and we used the officiant associated with the school. She was Episcopalian, I believe, and she never condemned drinking or dancing except for when she asked the bridal party to refrain from drinking before the ceremony.

@Spinningstars, he is Baptist, the offical stance is NO alcohol so it makes sense he wouldn’t go to a reception with alcohol. I’m glad you have an officiant now though!
