I disagree, I love getting holiday cards– especially ones with pictures! This year I didn’t even sign our names on the ones we mailed out (they were pre-printed).. and TBH I felt a little guilty about that – it felt / was impersonal. I’ve already decided next year we’ll be signing our names.

If you don’t like it, throw it out. Honestly, people get so worked up over nothing… “oh no, another card with someones FACE on it, the nerve of these people” … lol Just be happy that you got the save the date, thank you card, christmas card etc. in the first place. There are much bigger problems out there.

to be honest i dont know anyone who really keeps the old cards. with their photos on it i can see how much all their kids have grown (i actually keep them all other threw out the years) put a hole punch in it and keep them all like a little flip book. but i only get them from family or really close friends. not people i wouldnt care to see.
Lana_Rose yeah i agree with you. its like LOOK at my beautiful family!!!!! LOOK!! haha but like i said most of the ones i get are from close but out of town family.
also sounds like people might be sending a million out just cuz they have to buy 50 at a time. lol
my friend on facebook put out photos of her and her three kids. but its an all sorts of wrong kind of photo. pretty funny. that i find entertaining 😉 i dont know what she was thinking. its like a dark -farm horse- santa elfs in overalls photo?? i got a kick out of it though.
would you feel different if it was a reg christmas card with their photo inside?

I like them! I mean not if they were going to be just like, super braggy kinds of things. But I ALSO like them to have a personalized note. I definitely agree on that.
We are just doing regular Christmas cards this year, but thats because I can usually find the boxed ones on super sale at some point lol.

I love them. Like others mentioned, I love seeing how my friends kids grow from year to year. I’m a photographer, photos are important to me and I love seeing other people’s family portraits.
If people don’t like my photo christmas card, I wish they’d tell me, I’m happy to remove them from my list and save a little money!
I’m surprised to see how many people say they don’t like them. I’d rather have a personalized photo card than some generic card with a snowman covered in glitter. I don’t save or hang onto generic cards, but I proudly display the photo cards peopel send me. FWIW, not all of my friends/family send over the top cards with lots of professional photos. Many of them send regular photo paper cards with personal snapshots.
To me, it’s no different than the people who come on here and post photos of their rings, new homes, pets, and do a 2 page recap with (with photos) of their wedding.

Personally I would rather have ones with pictures on them than with snowmen and stuff. Although, to be perfectly honest I’d prefer not to get any at all lol.

@californiabride2013: I love getting photo cards! It’s fun to see relatives, pets, kids change from year to year. We don’t live close to a lot of friends and family, plus I’m not on Facebook, so these pic cards are sonetimes the only chance I get to see updated photos if people!

@starfish0116: I 100% agree with you on this:
“If people don’t like my photo christmas card, I wish they’d tell me, I’m happy to remove them from my list and save a little money!”

I won’t send Christmas cards until we have a little one. And then it will be those family members who don’t have facebook. Who knew people are so pissed off about recieving photos of loved ones?!

@californiabride2013: We (my fi and i) sent out an xmas card with one of the pictures from our engagment shoot. Normally I wouldn’t send them, but with the STD’s going out in Jan/Feb, and a bunch of family we don’t see often, I kinda thought the xmas card could be just a quick “hello, we didn’t forget about you” reminder before we bombard them with wedding stuff.

Uhhh I hate getting ones without pictures…Boring! I like putting them on the fridge. I never knew this was a thing to hate. Weird!

I think its just #selfie culture in general. I like to see a photo if: there are children (they change so fast!), or if its the couple doing something noteworthy (a cool trip, a graduation etc).
If its just the couple smiling for a portrait… then enough already!

@californiabride2013: I think it was different in the pre-Facebook days because we could go “oh, look how much little Susie grew in a year!” but now it’s like “wow, little Susie looks just like that photo you posted yesterday on Facebook!” I’d much prefer to get a store-bought, handmade, or online-personalized-but-not-photo card.

I love love love them and keep them. In fact I just did a cleaning out of my holiday cards and the ones I tossed were more likely the non-photo ones as they weren’t as interesting.
