Not wedding related but Fiance & I are throwing a holiday cocktail party for about 30 of our friends in the next few weeks and I need some ideas!
I’ve never hosted a party before so I’m nervous it’s going to be bad or boring haha. Does anyone have ideas for:
-Food (we’re thinking just appetizers?)
-Drinks (especially holiday themed ones!)
Also what do you do at cocktail parties? Should I just hope for everyone to drink and mingle or do I need to plan games/activities? :/

It depends on the vibe you are going for.
If I have a sitdown dinner, people are dressed nicer, then we tend to do music and mingling and people hanging out.
I also had parties where we have board games, play charades, play wii so it dependson the vibe you are going for. With the size of your guest list I think I go for this.
As for the cocktails can be fun and interactive. I love making them so I have two cocktailshakers, and ussally ask friends to bring extra.
Print out instructions and put them in photoframes. Put out a few cocktails books so people can have ideas of how and what to make for the more complex cocktails.
I also would recommend for the size of your guest list sticking to vodka based cocktails becuase they are easy to make and tend to be bit cheaper. Get plenty of ice, juice/mixers, garnishes.
Also I love to make infused vodka I done mixed berries, pinapple, and pear you can do it a week or two before the party.
Have a coctail contest, buy plastic little shot glasses and have a few people make a cocktails and let everyone sample it and vote on which was the best.
If you are doing just appeitizers I suggest doing heavy appeitizers so people have plenty to eat so they aren’t drinking on empty tummys.
Anyways I could go on forver so I leave it here. Good luck!!
