We got engaged on 12-20-12! It was absolutely perfect, so sweet, and definitely us. I have to finally add our story to the board tonight.

this is such a fun board to read!!
at the risk of being too wordy, i’ll include my full proposal story for fun-
My fiance and I have been talking about getting married for what feels like forever- and around valentines day 2012 he started saying it was long overdue and he had meant to do it already…. fast forward to the end of 2012 and i was dying and starting to be that resentful non-engaged girl!
December 26th, 2012 was our 3rd anniversary, so I was hoping to be engaged that day. He had been hinting that it was coming on Christmas, so when that didnt happen I was totally disappointed. My friends and family were surprised it still hadn’t happened after all this time and I figured that if it didn’t happen on our anniversary or Christmas, I’d be waiting much longer for the day to come. I tried to put it out of my mind (impossible when you’re female!) and continue on with things. At least I was excited that we had a concert coming up on New Years Eve- the Backstreet Boys! I have been in love with the Backstreet Boys since I was a young girl. A couple months ago I saw that they were playing on New Years Eve- I assumed my then-boyfriend wouldn’t want to go see them, but I asked sort of as a joke. To my surprise, he immediately agreed. I asked him a few times to make sure he actually wanted to spend NYE doing such a thing, and he responded with “if that’s what you want to do, then let’s do it!” Great, right? (after we got the tickets I kept thinking how perfect it would be for me to have a BSB proposal and my mind ran crazy with ideas)
So, anyway, we go to the Backstreet Boys concert and he’s acting totally normal and not too thrilled about the concert, even invited his friends who wound up not coming… and then he disappears for over 30 minutes! I was texting him and calling him asking where did he go, what’s going on, what’s taking so long, i’m standing here for a long time now! He comes back and uses some excuse about a long line at the bar so I dismiss it. Well, it turns out he was running around with the stage managers at the show trying to get approval for the Backstreet Boys to call us up on stage for him to do a proposal. Little did he know, that was my DREAM proposal!!! Well, the stage managers told him he couldn’t go up on stage simply because it was NYE so they had to show the ball drop and that otherwise they would have let him do it since he was the only one proposing that night.
Well, at midnight they showed us the Times Square countdown on screen, and right when the 10 second countdown to midnight got to zero, he got down on one knee in the middle of the crowd and held up the ring!! I started crying right away. I never even allowed him to put the ring on my finger- I apparently grabbed it out of his hand and held it in my fist, haha. We hugged for a few minutes and I couldn’t stop crying, as the Backstreet Boys started singing again on stage.

Dec 23, 2012: He proposed a few days before Christmas so we could announce to our families @ Christmas Eve/Christmas dinner 🙂 I was not-so-paitently waiting, but he told me that even though he bought the ring in September, he knew he was going to hold it until December! All my trying to convince him to kinda hurry it up was never going to work; I had no idea it had been his plan to propose around the holidays all along! 😛 But no complaining here! 🙂

I know how you feel. I actually got 3 separate jewelry boxes, one from my SO and the other two from his family. I have no real jewelry to place in them. This makes 5 jewelry holders for me with no jewelry to speak of. I’m donating at least two of the boxes. Sorry about your bad luck, but at least know that you’re not alone.

December 19th! It’s so hard to get a good pic, cause the diamond is too sparkly 🙂

wish I had seen this board when I first joined!! Fiance proposed on Christmas Eve. We went out to dinner and then we went to the beach, and while we were walking and talking, he dropped to one knee and proposed! It was absolutely magical, and special and the most incredible moment of my life <3
Here’s the ring:
Here’s our mini photoshoot from that night:
