Our dream is to have a very close family gathering instead of a big one day blow-out. So, in an effort to save money and keep our wedding semi-small, I had (what I thought) was a good idea. I wanted to do our wedding and “reception” over the 2011 Thanksgiving or Christmas weekend as we love the holidays VERY much. I am looking into renting a huge vacation home in San Francisco (minimum 4 day stay) that will probably be big enough to fit all of our guests for a small “reception” and sleep all of our immediate family (8 bedrooms).
My “issue” is that because it’s over a holiday weekend, I’m not sure what my obligations are to the guests that do decide to stay in the house with us. Aside from the “Day Of” events, should I provide food? Entertainment? Or give them a map and say “Have fun exploring the city!”?? I guess it would be a lot like having a “destination wedding”, which I know NOTHING about… Any advice?
