HA! Nothing pisses off a jeweler more than moissanite! It’s gorgeous, durable and much cheaper than the $4,000 diamond they want to sell you. Diamonds have very poor resale value, so if anyone buys them as an “investment” for the most part, they are in for a very rude awakening when they go to sell (unless their jeweler has a buy back policy or it’s a world class stone).

So yeah. Screw that cow for trying to make you feel bad about your ring.

@Debbie1031:  Diamonds are an investment?? Apparently she’s never tried to sell one secondhand lol

Wow, how rude. I love how she lectured you on the dangers of buying online when you had already done so and weren’t at all upset with the result, that’s hilarious. The “investment” thing cracks me up, too. When Fiance and I were talking e-rings and me wanting moissanite, I mentioned off-handedly that diamond rings don’t really hold the resale value of what you spend on them anyway. Fiance has been married once before, and when they divorced, I guess she kept the engagement ring (diamond), so he was like “Huh. I guess I can be a little less irritated that [ex] kept hers, then!” Indeed, sir, indeed.

Only the most out of reach, museum quality diamonds are an investment. Not knocking diamonds, but that lady was full of it. And pretty bitchy, apparently. I own a business – you don’t make a sale by insulting a customer. You can bet I’d be walking right out of there.

DIAMONDS ARE NOT AN INVESTMENT!  CARS ARE NOT AN INVESTMENT!

She doesn’t seem too bright. Diamonds are like cars, once you drive them off the lot they lose a huge chunk of their resale value. EVERYONE knows that. I would have had trouble resisting giving her an ear full about her crappy customer service and bad attitude.

That’s the sort of thing I actually appreciate reading on Yelp, so I know not to waste my time.

“Are the side stones at least diamonds?”

*facepalm*

“Well just so long as you know it holds no value and you’re ok with that…”

Because the monetary value of jewellery is the only thing that matters *rolls eyes* This is why I’ve warmed to purchasing things online – to avoid the face to face contact with some salespeople out there.

Did you end up speaking with the husband or will you be going to another store?
