My photographers are more like friendors, so they have been consistently working on and uploading photos from our wedding in batches over the past few weeks. Well, I just saw a picture of myself last night that really hit home how important it is to choose your accessories wisely and make sure you have the “right” amount for you! Haha here is what I looked like all dolled up:
And then I got a whiff of this picture. No necklace, no earrings, no lace gloves. Even with all my hair stuff on …
I LOOK NAKED!!! Haha hideous! Monstrous! So plain!!!
I guess me + strapless dress + nothing to draw eyes away from my neckline and bare arms = FAIL. I just cannot believe the difference a few little pieces of jewelry make. I am stunned. I want to delete this picture forever and ever, haha.
Anyone else have before and after accessories pics to share?

I think you look just as gorgeous without the jewelery and gloves etc.! Your dress is gorgeous and you look so happy!
We are our own worst critics aren’t we?

I think you look really pretty without all of the accesories.

@kayberry: Haha thanks! I saw that picture and I stared at it for a minute trying to figure out why I looked so ‘weird’ … then it dawned on me that without my accessories, I looked all arms and shoulders and I HATED it! Need shiny objects to distract …

I love the way you look without the accessories! Beautiful either way!

@raspberrymacaron: That must be it — I wear a lot of jewelry regularly, so seeing myself all “naked” like that just looks horrible to me! It’s funny because at some point through the wedding planning, I worried that I was planning on wearing too many accessories (and a few Bees agreed that maybe I was planning too much) … well, boy am I glad I decided to wear it all. To my eyes, the first two pics look infinitely better than the last! It is definitely a GREAT detail shot of the dress itself, though.
Haha it’s funny to see how many minimalists there are out there! I’d really love to see more before-and-after accessories shots, though. Anyone??

What’s important is that YOU like how you look in your pictures! I’m glad you’re pleased with the results! One of my biggest fears is that I will someday see my wedding pictures and be disappointed in how I look. I’m so afraid of looking mediocre or like I’m trying too hard.
