- Wedding: October 2012
not being braggy, i just had no idea where else i could squee!
like all good southern girls, i started dreaming of weddings as a tyke. i remember helping my cousin register for her wedding when i was a flowergirl… and i remember falling in love with gorham chantilly siverware. loooooove.
cue 20 years later, fi and i are rich in deep south heritage, but not in cold hard cash. 🙂 we do okay, but we’re registering on amazon for fiestaware, not tiffany, and are frank about the fact that we need usable stuff, not fine china and sterling, and all was grand.
and then i got a note from my Mother-In-Law yesterday. long story short, she knew we were getting ready to register, so wanted to let us know the heirlooms we would be gifted with, so that we didn’t double up, etc. (i had no idea their even WERE heirlooms, other than my ring, lol.) she informed me that she had set aside silverware for each of her two son’s wives and that i would be receiving a perfect set of gorham chantilly flatware, service for 12. and all of the serving/decor pieces. and a full tea service for 18. like, pretty much anything gorham ever made in chantilly.
i literally almost had a heart attack. it sounds incredibly twee, but hello, little girl dream come true! i’m a super rational, bride on a budget, but this totally made me feel like a princess bride… in a good way!
i’m blown away my mil’s foresight and generosity… but also at my incredible luck! i would have been beyond with gratitude at any gift of this caliber, but to have it be “my pattern…” squeeeeee!!!! im dreaming already of the tables i will set at the holidays (yes, i am that girl.) :))
thanks for letting me share!
