Oh boy, what a day. My husband and I were supposed to be flying to sunny Florida for a week of fun in the sun. We were all packed and ready to head to the airport, when my Darling Husband looked at me with a beffudled expression, and asked, “Where’s my wallet?”
Now, he’s the kind of guy that drops it at any old spot, and forgets where he puts it, so I didn’t think a whole lot about it. We searched high and low, near and far, and nothing. We tore up the house, and we missed the flight.
To make matters worse, on my way down the stairs, I fell, and BROKE MY TOES! Youch. So not only do I not have a beachy vacation to look forward to today, it hurts to limp around the house. My husband was snapping at me because he was so upset, (before the toes) and it was one of the more trying days in our marriage.
Now, there are redeeming qualities to our day. Yes, we missed our flight, but we have a credit with the airline for any flight in the future, so it’s not exactly a loss in that department; only with wasted vacation time. Secondly, a nice neighbor rang our doorbell, and guess what she had? HIS WALLET!!! It was strewn across the street all over the place. The only thing we could think of was that he had placed it on the hood of his car before hopping in and driving off. Horrible, horrible, horrible. But everything was still there!
So now I need some Bee Hive help. We’re staying local in the Maryland area, but want to take advantage of a couple of our vacation days to have a little fun in the sun. Now, we live here, so the novelties of what to do might not be so obvious to us. What kind of local activity would you get yourself into if you were in our position? Let ‘er rip!
ETA: We CAN NOT fly to Florida this week. The flight credit is only allowed for something equal in value, and because it would be such a “short notice” booking, the tickets are at least $500 extra dollars that we can not spend. Our flight vouchers must wait for another time.
