1st September for me, so just over 8 months to go. You’re so far ahead of us! My dress is bought but I haven’t got accessories yet, haven’t even looked at invites or honeymoon and only vaguely thought about getting rings in the January sales.

I got my dress in August and it turned up in November but the seamstress had sewn the lace on wonky! They’re making a new one and it’ll be here in March, so once it turns up I can start getting veils etc. I know what I want, I just want to be able to colour match to the dress.

I’m going bridesmaid dress shopping in January. Our venue is going through refurbishment including new chairs, so we’re waiting for that to be done before picking chair sashes etc. I’m feeling calm with taking Christmas off planning but will be back to it next year!

Us too!! We are so excited. We are doing a small ceremony and dinner for immediate family. Our officiant, venue, and honeymoon are booked. Venue is doing the catering and we aren’t doing invites or flowers or any of that. We are happy to keep it simple!  🙂

Thought I’d check in. Would be great to hear everyone’s updates!

Booked: venue/catering/hotel, photographer, florist, cake (family member)

Purchased: dress, veil, shoes, rings, a few decor elements

To book: hair, make-up, entertainment, transport

To purchase: bridesmaids dresses, Fiance and groomsmen suits, polaroid guestbook, other decor (eg ribbons for chair sashes)

To do: honeymoon, invites and paper, registry, ceremony. Also: lose another 5kg (just over 10lb), tone my upper arms and look into a decent skincare regime.

Booked: venue, caterer, photographer, cake baker, speakers for ipod playlist, hair/makeup, honeymoon flights and rental car, hotel block/hotel room for us

Purchased: most of the decor, about half of gifts for bridal party/parents, wedding dress, 4 out of 7 bridesmaid dresses, 3 out of 7 groomsmen attire, rings, linens, favors, stationery, sparklers for exit

To be booked/purchased: board dogs for wedding weekend, babysitter, additional gifts and decor, alcohol, and flowers

I think I am pretty ahead of the game because I have been engaged for over a year now lol. Alcohol and flowers are going to be ordered from Sam’s Club, or else I would have done that by now as well!

bdtrainor :  good to hear how you’re getting on. We only decided to get married in December so I feel really behind.

ladyartichoke :  You have plenty of time! We had a long engagement for financial reasons, but if that weren’t the case, I definitely would have chosen a 6-9 month engagement. It has just been draaagging on. I got mostly everything booked 6 months into it and then kind of sat around being bored for the next 6 months lol. It picked up just this month when we chose bridesmaids dresses and groomsmen attire last weekend. I think you’re going at a great pace!

bdtrainor :  phew. There is definitely a rushed feeling. One of the bridal stores I visited was so negative.  Umming and aahhing and ooo you’ve left it late etc. The place I ended up getting my dress: no problem, no rush fees, just a couple of weeks fewer for fittings.

I finally got my invitations and wedding rings ordered, which were the last big things on my list. Otherwise it’s just ordering decor and smaller things like booking the rehearsal dinner and whatnot. Our wedding is so low key that there are moments where I panic thinking I’ve done something wrong, but the reality is it’s just a party with a wedding thrown in the middle!

I can’t believe how close September is though. I got engaged at the end of December 2017 and it still feels like January somehow!

beevincent18 :  I agree! The whole engagement has been like “wait until it gets closer to do xyz,” and suddenly I’m thinking, “how will I get all these things done in 5 months?!” But I am sure that’s just my mindset, and everything will come together the way it’s supposed to.

I don’t know why we picked the 1st September – 18 weeks on Saturday for us! Eek!!

We still haven’t had the menu tasting with our venue yet so can’t order the invites as we won’t know what the food options are. I’m a bit stressed about it, the contact stated they’d get us in 5-6 months before but when I called a fortnight ago they said it would be “soon”. I’m thinking invites need to go out in May as we need or numbers by 1st August so rsvp will be mid July. It’s all getting tight.

I’m starting to feel nervous too! In a way it feels like it’s going fast but does also feel like it’s dragged as we’ve been engaged since nov 2016!
