@jadlnc:  Well, you’re probably not gonna like this, but you could put off buying the new ering and wedding band. I mean, the ones you have are lovely for now. You could wait a little while, if finances are tight.

@jadlnc:  lol. Yeah sorry, it’s just that’s the only area I could we cutting costs at this point. Assuming you already have your outfits pretty much picked out. I understand wanting both rings at the ceremony. Tricky tricky.

Oh my goodness, get it painted bone white and re-paint it later, when you have more money!!
(or when the paint you like goes on sale) OR you can use a starch solution to stick blue fabric on the walls, it peels right off and the starch washes away easily.

And can you find a cheaper ring? Check Etsy, my white gold wedding band was about $200. FI’s titanium one was $150. They are both beautiful and we love them. Plain, but they do the job… we can always upgrade later.

@jadlnc:  So sorry! I had kind of a similar situation as you. I’m a teacher and the summer job I had lined up fell through so I was unemployed for a month and a half before my wedding. I definitely had a little bit of panic over my wedding budget lol. Sorry I don’t really have any advice. But just think, in a few months you’ll be married and it’ll be over:)

It is a real wedding!! If you are married by the end of the day, it is a real wedding. By the way, having a wedding at home sounds lovely!

Since you have such a tight budget, you just have to pick and choose what is most important to you.  We had a courthouse ceremony, a lovely restaurant dinner for five, professional flowers and photographer, rings, and wedding clothing for just under two grand.  I also had my hair done.  It was small, no doubt about it, but low pressure and budget friendly.

Haha, I feel you. We didn’t have a budget exactly, as my parents gave us a set amount of money and said, “Do what you want with it.” But I had a pretty good idea of how much we were going to spend, and how much of it we were going to put in our savings. Then the week before the wedding, we spent over a thousand bucks on, like, nothing!! So yeah, I know what it means for wedding budgets to get out of control in an instant.

@jadlnc:  I mean, yes it’s real, yes it’s a wedding, but we’re not having a venue, a DJ, a Photographer, favors, a huge cake, etc… Our venue is our free house, my iPod is the DJ, myself and my tripod will be taking most of the pics, no favors, our cake is tiny and cost under $100, I’m buying a bouquet of flowers at the grocery store, cutting off the stems and wrapping it myself, I DIYed my freaking jewelry. How can we be spending almost $4,000???!!!

OMG, this !!! I’m always facing this constatation when looking at my detailed budget, and it frustrates the hell out of me when people say things like ”have you considered … to keep expenses low ?” Well, you bet I already did ! And to an even more extreme point than the one you suggested !

The big problem is venue and food (for us). We don’t have a house yet and don’t really know anyone who could host the wedding at theirs. So we’re always looking at 4.5K, 5K + venue/menus combo for 60 people because that’s the cheapest in the area. Only, that’s twice our initial budget and deep down, I don’t *want* to spend that much and I don’t think it’s *worth* it, at least not on the vendors’ terms, because their prices are awfully high.

*Hugs* hang in there, you’re not alone, we’ll find a solution we’ll feel comfortable with, I’m sure !

Haha, we had the same financial spiral! I planned for our wedding to be 2.5K, and it wound up being 4K!

The surprise expenses are always the worst…
