@Atalanta: Is it your point in life to be unecessarily rude all the time.
Jesus Christ on a bike, you don’t know her financial situation otherwise. You know when you go to work for other companies, they have a little thing called a 401k that should could be investing in as well, or even an IRA through her bank.
OP – that is great news, I can tell you’re relieved!

@deetroitwhat: I was not being rude. I just don’t think blowing half your pension is necessarily the best way to get quick money. If OP has everything figured out great, if not she should prob think about it before spending it.

@Atalanta: you are definitely a debbie downer.. and clueless. as with anything financial, it’s important to know all of the details in order to make such an assessment…clearly you don’t.

@Atalanta: You do make a good point. One of the reasons that legislation regarding pensions was changed to lock in contributions, was that too many women were withdrawing their contributions when they got married or had children and then were retiring into poverty.

Wooohooo!!!! Congrats, girl. I can only dream of that type of a situation… The timing could not be better. It’s like winning the lottery! I always say someone’s life can change for the better… Good luck, and relax while you plan your dream wedding… I would be happy with 5% of that, haha!

@Atalanta: +1
I was thinking the same thing. If that was supposed to go towards your retirement, why are you spending it now? I personally think you should save it all for retirement…
