I also did a vanilla cake with Italian meringue and marshmallows for a different colleague’s birthday.  I made the marshmallows which was surprisingly easy, though I was sticky from head to foot!

missviolet92 :  thanks! The right tools make a big difference – a good scraper and cake turntable make everything easier.

bakerbee09 :  we baked pineapple tarts for our first Chinese New Year with our lab group. My SO has never tried pineapple tarts so it was a new adventure for him too.

My most recent streak has been perfecting my pie crust (I get on kicks) I have a pic of the blackberry before but not after ๐Ÿ˜†

And my first attempt at lemon meringue:

And some Christmas sugar cookies I was pretty proud of. Lol!

Ive been wanting to bake something all week but I’m trying to exhibit restraint. My waistline does not agree with my passion for baked goods! This thread is NOT helping. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

bakerbee09 :  I haven’t baked in a few weeks but I love to bake and cook. Lately i’ve been into making pasta, bread and pizza but I did make some crostoli this week. Crostoli for those of you playing at home are Italian fried sweet pastry ribbons. I made them for a party and people went back several times because they are really moorish but you do end up wearing lots of powdered sugar on yourself! You don’t want to be pulled over by cops after eating these because you are covered in white powder!! ๐Ÿ˜‚

These are the last four left and hubby and I are having them now with our coffee! Lol….Told hubby to wait before eating them so I could take a photo!

michellelynn9175 :  how do you get your flooding so perfect? I always end up with bubbles when the icing on my cookies dry. They look perfect but then they develop bubbles during the drying process. Do you use packet royal icing or do you make your own?

cmsgirl :  Well this was my first attempt at sugar cookies where I actually tried. Haha! So I can’t say if I’ve ever had any issues with the icing. Here’s the recipe I use and it’s amazing. Like it specifies, it’s flooding consistency so if you need to pipe a border or designs, just add more powdered sugar to that color. Sorry it’s sideways! My kitchen looked like a bomb went off after doing it but I was so proud of them! Lol! I have an amazing sugar cookie dough recipe too. Thank you Pinterest! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Oh man, I didn’t know this baking thread was going around!  FH calls me the “Queen of Pies.”  I bake all kinds of stuff, but lots of pies because I love them, ha.  I also make all our own bread.  Here’s the products from the last 2 months or so:
