Now that we are married and combining finamces, Darling Husband is surprised that I make coffee at home & then buy coffee mid morning at work! He says this is not normal, and people routinely do one or the other. I beg to differ– I know plenty of people who make it for the commute & buy to get out ofthe officefor 10 minutes! Thoughts?!

Why dont you bring a thermas with hot coffee so that you save the 2$ every day and just have home brew? I work at home so I only drink home brew inless a client brings me a coffee lol and my boyfriend brings a cup to work in the am from home

I said at home, but I normally buy starbucks fraps at the grocery store for 4 for $5. Works for me.

Since we’ve gotten married and combined our finances, I’ve tried my best to cut out the expense of buying coffee from Starbucks. Usually, I brew a cup at home with our Keurig and either drink it at home or drink it in the car. And then we have a brew at work that I drink — brought my own flavored creamer in to make it more tasty. For me, the point of making it at home is so I don’t feel the “need” to buy it. But it’s definitely taken some discipline. 🙂

I just drink one cup a day, any more and I’d be a jittery mess! On weekdays, I just brew a pot at work in the break room and drink a cup there. On weekends, I bust out the french press (best wedding gift ever!!) and have it at home. The only time I buy a cup of coffee from anywhere is if I’m at like an airport or something in the morning.

I wish I could drink coffee I make at home…I just don’t get up early enough to make it. It is so time consuming in the maker we have. Sigh. So I go to Starbucks (ew) or Dunkin Donuts (ew). In a pinch either is all right.

My option isn’t included. I have a coffee pot in my office and brew it here when I get in. I get up at 4 and Fiance doesn’t get up until 6:15, so making it at home would just wake him!

I do what you do, @Mrs_Amanda:!
I make a thermos in the morning and by mid day if I need more I will go out and get it. So far he has not complained, haha!

I’m not living in America anymore, so there aren’t Starbucks or DDs on every corner (sadly). When the temptation isn’t there, I don’t really miss the storebought brews. When I visit my parents back in America, I sure do indulge in Wawa coffee though 😉 I think there is nothing wrong with using coffee to get out of the office sometimes, but it can add up fast (especially if you are ordering specialty coffees and not just the basic black).

@ saraP898 its not really a budget thing for us…just a question out of curiousity! I enjoy my little “break” from my cubical every morning haha.

I usually make my own coffee. At home on the weekends and at work on the weekdays – i have a coffee pot here. I only buy coffee if we are out shopping or i’m craving something in particular. usually if i go to a coffee shop i will indulge in a specialty drink rather than a regular coffee.

Ha! This is a discussion every morning for us. Before we lived together I made myself French Press coffee daily (Nepresso in a pinch); he had a ritual of walking to one of three local indie shops, then bringing it home to drink. It seems silly to me to spend the money on the coffee shop coffee — especially when you’re just bringing it home! But it’s his ritual, so we do that at least four days a week, sometimes more. And I’ll often tell him to just get coffee for himself while I make my own.

He was more surprised at just how much I drink lol…he is like “I know you make it at home & drink 2 cups AND you buy at work?! How do you sit still!!”

I go out for coffee every morning around 10.

I usually drink home brewed. If I have coffee out, I prefer Dunkin Donuts, and they don’t have any in Montana, so I’m happy to just forgo coffee shop coffee. I really don’t like Starbucks very much.
