@nemoandthebrain:  DH and I haven’t thoroughly gotten into the homebuying portion of life just yet, but from what we did do and what I have heard from friends it’s quite a pain. I’m sorry you’re dealing with all of the stress, but in the end you’ll have a gorgeous new home! YAY!

I agree.  Between inspections, applications, low appraisals, bidding wars… I am SO over the house buying process!  I’d rather get a root canal

@nemoandthebrain: Where are you in the process? And what exactly about the process is miserable?

I guess we were extremely lucky to have a very easy experience. Our only (slight) issues were deciding on a closing date (sellers kept pushing back) and getting them to take care of a few fixes.

Took us 3 months to close on our home. So many steps. Hang in there. It will happen.

@nemoandthebrain:  I hear you. It was a pain for us too! If it wasn’t one thing, it was the other. We almost walked out once – and our lawyer told us we were legally free to walk – but we fell in love with our little house and couldn’t!! It is so worth it in the end.

We have lived here for a little over a month now and every time I come back from work I get a little giddy oh-my-gosh-i-have-a-house feeling. It’s super fun, bonding, and learning experience. The smallest things (all our little ‘firsts’ moments) turn into a great time.

Just yesterday we set up our sprinkler (yes, we have been hand wattering our lawn for the past month, and I hate bugs so guess who was doing it most of the time). We had a blast setting the thing up. Got drenched, confused, ran around to escape the water, laughed so much, and had 2 of our neighbors come in and help us and everyone had a great time!

Stay strong hun!! Good luck.

I think it is annoying also..the worst part is the closing and having to deal with the lawyers. Thankfully all will be over for us next Monday! 🙂 Hang in there! You will have a great home in the end so it will all be worth it

I know exactly what you mean. Hubby and I still get that feeling a year laterr when we buy stuff for the house. Was a long process but sooooo worth it.

Our appraisal was today…

…and I somehow managed to sprain my neck driving to it.

House buying sucks.

It really is terrible. After we closed on our house we both promised not to do it again anytime soon. We thought house hunting/bidding would be the worst part and then our appraisal came in low and our underwriter forgot that our down payment was already in escrow :-

@nemoandthebrain:  Eek!  We’re going to be looking to buy a house at the end of the year.  IDK why DH thinks this is going to be easy peasy.  This is good to know!

@nemoandthebrain:  We made an offer in May, had our appraisal and it came in low.  We started over and went with another lender, and they are doing the second appraisal this week.  It feels like it has been an emotional rollercoaster between trying to decide whether to move forward or back out of the deal.

It’s terrible. I thought building a home from ground up would be great, but we habe had nothing but headaches.
