Our builder took an extra three days…..can you imagine my insanity? They said yes to everything in our fairly ambitous offer, so you never know 🙂 Good luck!!!

@Petunia123:  Welcome to my life for the past three weeks. Fiance and I put an offer on a foreclosed home Mardi Gras day (I see you’re from Baton Rouge :)…we’re in NOLA), and it’s been this tortuous waiting game since then. Found out on Friday that we were one of many offers, and the bank threw all the offers out and asked us to submit our “highest and best” offer by Tuesday at midnight. So we’re back to playing the waiting game until the bank decides to respond again. All I can suggest is try your hardest to focus your attention elsewhere…because it will totally eat you up if you worry about it constantly!

Good luck, let us know how it goes!

@Petunia123:  Ick, that is tough. If you really, really love the house and you can make it work with the price increase, I say go for it. This is the place you’re gonna come home to every day for years, so make sure you love it! On the flip side, if it would be too much of a stretch to cover those costs, re-evaluate. Do you qualify for an FHA loan or are you going conventional? The rates on FHA loans (that only require 3.5% down) are actually much lower than on conventional loans right now… Maybe this is an option?

@LizLemon:  Did you put your offer in? Did you get it? One thing you can do is give your offer with a (I think it’s called) a escalation. So you offer $250,000 with an $20,000 escalation. Meaning if someone else offers $255,000, your orginal offer will escalate to $255,001.

Good Luck!

@KoiKove:  We did put in an offer. We upped our down payment, earnest offering, and our total. The offer is now $5,500 more than asking price. We should find out by the end of the week so it’s just a waiting game now!
