I’m doing this even though we just closed 🙂

Location: Alabama

First Home: Yep!

Any close landmarks?:  US Space and Rocket Center

Home Features: Full brick 3 bed/2 bath, 2 car garage, wood flooring in the family room, tile in the kitchen, dining, laundry and bathrooms, carpet in the bedrooms.  Espresso colored cabinets with stainless steel appliances.  In a subdvision, on a corner(curve?) Lot.  It is a new construction so we got to see it being built from the ground up, it was a pretty awesome experience.

Mortgage Rate: We got a 3.25% rate, but since we didn’t have 20% down we opted to go with a conventional mortgage instead of an FHA and roll the PMI into the interest rate so it’s now at 3.75%

Closing date: oddly enough, it was supposed to be today, but they finished almost a month early, so we actually closed on the 15th. We just spent the first night here Sunday night.

What are you looking forward to?: This actually being OUR home.  We’ve lived in an apartment for the past two years and the complex has gone down hill fast, so we couldn’t get out of there fast enough.  I know Fiance IS looking forward to having a garage to work on the cars, and we are both looking forward to having a kitchen we can both be in without running into each other, two bathrooms and an amazing back yard that our pups can run around in.

We’ve been in our house for a year now, but it still has that “new house smell” so I’ll play along….

Location: Minnesota

First home?  Nope.

Any close great landmark?  We’re close to shopping and freeways but far enough away…and near a lake, which is nice in MN.

Home features? 4 bedrooms/4bathrooms.  big kitchen with new ss appliances, dual fuel range and fancy pants island.  My husband has a workshop in the basement and 3-car garage.  I also have a whirlpool tub in my bathroom….and a cedar closet.  The house is 20-years old, so some of the fixtures aren’t as “pretty” as a new home, but we got a killer deal on this place, and we really have a lot of amenities that a new home just doens’t come standard with anymore!

Mortgage Interest? 3.75%

Closing Date?  We’ve been here a year…

What are you looking forward to? I’m never moving again.  This is our forever home.  I’m looking forward to rennovating the kitchen (hopefully someday) and maybe a couple of the upstairs bathrooms.  I honestly don’t care too much about that though.  I priced out the cost of new countertops and I about lost my freaking mind.

First Home: Not for me, but yes for Fiance

Any close landmarks?:  Nope

Home Features: 4 bed 2.5 bath; 2200 sq ft finished, no neighbors to the back (a little privacy!!); unfinished basement (which I think is a pro, a lot of people think its a con); 2 car garage

Mortgage Rate: 3.25% 20 yr.

Closing date: 3/4/13!  So excited to start painting!

What are you looking forward to?: SPACE!  We are bursting at the seams in my small house with no garage, so having space for my Fiance to truly move in and not just have a small room is going to be great.  For me, space means possibilities: out of town guests will be much more comfortable, babies will be much more comfortable, and we will be much more comfortable!

Such a fun thread! I am SO excited to close on our new home next week =)  Luckily the timing worked out perfectly: next week is my spring break so I’ll have all week to pack and move.  Fiance is also taking 2 vacation days to help.

Location: Fort Mill, SC

First Home: We have a rental property that we own, but we never lived there together.  So this is “our” first house.

Any Close Great Landmark?  Close to shopping, parks, and schools.  About 15 minutes away from Charlotte, the nearest “big” city.

Home Features: 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths. Since it is a new build, I was able to design my dream kitchen (granite countertops, ss appliances, huge island, etc…). I also love the master bedroom/bathroom and closet space!

APR: 3.4% (gotta love the low interest rates)

Closing Date: March 11th

What are you looking forward to?  Decorating, Cooking in my new kitchen, Having space for all of our furniture that is in storage. I can’t wait to get paint on the walls!
