My husband and I received a fillable lamp for our wedding. The base is a clear glass vase that you can fill with anything. The lamp part screws on the top of the vase for the light. My question is what should we fill it with? We have a very vintage/eclectic style. Please help us out with by giving some suggestions.
Note: Plants and fish are out.

Maybe fill it with different stuff depending on the season? Depending on your colors, for summer you could fill it with (fake) citrus fruit? For christmas ornaments? I dunno lol. Honestly I’d prob paint the inside of it and be done with it.

Old lace doilies that you don’t know what else to do with? I have a ton that my grandmother made, and I love them, but don’t know what to do with them otherwise. You can’t get much more vintage than a hand made doily.

beads? buttons? sand? (fake) pearls?

@sugarcube: ooooo!! i like the pearls idea!

i would do big beaded jewelry – the fake pearl type. There’s always tons of them at swap meets and antique/goodwill type stores. So fun and totally says retro to me 🙂

I was thinking buttons too! I love big, gaudy, vintage buttons! I googled “fillable lamps” and there were pictures of christmas ornaments in one. Made me think of CorgiTales’ comment.
Don’t forget, there’s also a “home” thread under the “nesting” boards too, for inspiration 🙂
Edit: Just checked out the “home” boards myself realizing I haven’t been there in awhile. Looks like great minds think alike!

My aunt and uncle have lamps like that in their villa in FL with seashells. But that might not go with the rest of your decor very well.
Or you could just leave it empty!
