Hi bees! Anyone have any advice for us during the home inspection process? We got our signed contrast last night (!!!) so they have 14 days to get the inspection done. We know to have everything really clean and keep everything out of the way, but is there anything else we need to do? Thanks in advance!

I don’t believe you need to do too much, it’s mostly for structural things so as long as they can get in/around everywhere that should be fine! Also, if you have an attic, make sure they have a way to poke their head up their to check for mould etc. 🙂

@cant.wait.to.be.mrs.d: I would be sure to go with the home inspector to the house because I heard of way to many people that have been screwed by horrible home inspectors. There are many things that need checked even down to how stable is the railing for the stairwell. My husband and I watch a lot of Holmes on Homes and have come to realize that a lot of things may not be caught. Dh just bought a book that Holmes actually wrote for buyers to help in the inspection.
Good luck 🙂

Make sure access to key points in your home are clear (e.g. electrical panel, attic, outlets, windows, etc.) Otherwise, as the owners of the home being inspected, there isn’t much you need to do. By The Way… congrats on going under contract.

Thanks for the advice! The inspection was today and the realtor said it went really well. We just have to survive the termite inspection on Friday and the dreaded waiting period!

I know you already got it but if you would want to look over a very detailed home inspection I have no problems sending you one we had done for a house. It breaks down everything and would give you an idea of what to look for! This goes for anyone wanting to buy a house, PM me.
I know how expensive it can be for some people, so it might save you a little bit!

@fineapplewine: I would love that information. We are just starting the process (still waiting to hear back from the lender) but we are trying to read everything we can get our hands in the hopes the process goes smooth and we don’t have to move in the cold winter months lol.
