@sarahbabs:  It may be something customized to your searches.  Other than the wedding related sales ads, I have seen local politican in my ad spot.  Only way those would be there is if they were somehow customizable.

I’ll be honest, I pay absolutely no attention to any of the ads on here – but if I saw that one, I would not be pleased! I know that adds = $$$, but that kind of add seems incredibly inappropriate!

I haven’t seen that one, but I also do not pay much attention to the sidebars while browsing the Bee

@sarahbabs:  Could also be location.  Could be someone is targeting an ad based on location, would explain why I get local candidates on mine.

@sarahbabs:  Maybe the Bee can get rid of it?  It’s the antithesis of what we stand for.

I don’t understand peoples need to force their opinions/values on others. Why can’t we live and let live? I also think that in trying to control others your loose control of yourself.

I have an ad for AIDS… and I haven’t searched anything related!

I clicked on the adchoice icon that is always in the corner, it is an “interest based” site.

Here is a link to the instruction on how to block certain advertisers from showing up in  your ad location:

Anyone is allowed to buy an ad.

If I’m not mistaken, the Bee’s ads are run by Google, and if that’s the case the Bee has no real control over them. I don’t see any ads because I use the AdBlock extension for Chrome (I highly recommend it).

I am not getting that ad, but I admit, it would upset me, too.

@JaymeC:  Well that’s free speech. You can’t deny someone free speech just because you don’t like what is being said. There are still a lot of people out there who don’t want to hear that gay marriage should be legal, and I’m sure you wouldn’t like it if they said there shouldn’t be ads that promote it (They could say we are forcing our values and opinions on to them!). It goes both ways.
