I think I mentioned this in another thread, but there are two Women’s Clubs (I think in Glenn Ridge and Englewood?) that are adorable.  They have lovely grounds and great photo ops right in front of the beautiful buildings and I believe they are affordable.  I think you have to hire an outside caterer.

I’m not sure about pricing for them, but Nassau Inn in Princeton.  Great photo opps in Palmer Square or the University (we did our engagement pics on the University grounds — so nice!)

I looked for you – and the Nassau Inn is kind of expensive…i’ll keep you in mind and keep my eyes open since we seem to live in the same area!

I looked at the Women’s clubs in Englewood and Glen Ridge while they’re cheaper on the rental fee you have to bring everything in, or work with your caterer to do so (ie tablecloths, plates, napkins, glasses, silverware, liquor, cake, etc.) it ended up pricing out to like $150/head which was a shock to me!

I found that the further south I looked in Jersey the more reasonable the prices were.  Have you checked out the venues in Lambertville/New Hope PA?  The inn and a winery out there are really pretty!

Also, don’t forget NEPA (Northeast Pennsylvania). I’m not sure about pricing, but I know Cherry Valley Vineyard is a great place. Also, Mountain Springs is SUPER NICE. It’s a little expensive, but their food and service is exceptional. I’m in the restaurant business and wanted to have my wedding there but they couldn’t accomodate the number of people we had. I know they have buffet, so that’s an option.

Good luck, and I will keep my brain open for more ideas.

Jess1054, I’m looking for the same thing you are and it has been difficult.  I’m really looking for the convenience of having everything in one place to make it less hectic on such an important day.

I’ve looked at a few places.  There’s always ups and downs to each location though and that’s what has me indecisive.

The location I went to today is really beautiful, however they have an outdoor area that they are still in the process of building to perform outdoor ceremonies which makes me a little nervous.  I would rather see it completely done before we commit. The inside is beautiful and it has a warm and “homey” feeling to it which I really love.  Doesn’t need much decorating, the food was delicious!  They actually gave us a tasting on our first visit which hasn’t happened until after we’ve met up with location manager and scheduled a second appointment.

I just wanted to comment on your post and to wish you luck on finding your perfect location.  I need all the help I can get as well so you’re not alone 😉

You may want to look at Boulevardfive72 in Kennilworth, NJ. It’s a restaurant; however, they have a private room upstairs that can hold about 150 people with a dance floor. I personally have not been there, but have read good reviews about the food online. The pictures on their website look nice and the catering manager advised me wedding packages could be done for under $100 per person.

You may also want to look into Hunterdon Hills Playhouse in Hampton (Clinton), NJ – it’s right off of Rt. 78 West.  We’re getting married there next weekend and we were very pleased with what they had to offer – it’s in your price range and they offered a 10% discount for a Friday or Sunday wedding.  They do not have a bridal suite on-site though, however there is a nice Holiday Inn Select approx 4 miles away.  Their web site is http://www.hhplayhouse.com.

Best of luck to you in your search!  As we were on a strict budget too, I know how tough it is to find a venue.

@syvaob:  Hi there! I know I’m crazy late to this convo, but I just got engaged and was wondering what place you were referring to (if you remember). I’m looking for something similar to what you and Jess1054 needed (2 years later). I’m just about to give up on finding a perfect place 🙁 THANKS!!!
