I think it looks very pretty–it doesn’t look altered to me. If yoou just showed me the pic on the right, I wouldn’t have kown it was originally like the one on the left.

I agree with MrsYokiman – if we didn’t know what it originally looked like we would have no idea. It looks gorgeous!

Honestly, I think the original looks better :/. The altered version looks a little wavy on top or something. Maybe it’s just the picture, or that I can’t see the whole dress. Maybe it looks better when it’s on a person instead of hanging.

Comparing the distances of some of the lace features to the top of the main dress, you can tell its been moved down completely. I may only say scrunched in the middle to get the lace to take the shape of the sweetheart dip and perfectly match the shape. The seamstress did a good job, and both look properly done, so I would be happy with the alterations.

I don’t think it looks bad or weird in any way. I understand that you wanted a little bit of the lace to come over the seam & in a few places it does just a tad. Can they still add a few pieces to come up a little more? If not, I think it looks totally normal & definitely like it’s supposed to be that way. I don’t think it looks ‘altered’ at all. I like it better than it originally was too.

HeartsandSparkles:  no, you’re not being over critical.  This is your wedding dress! It’s supposed to be perfect & how you ordered it, just like you said.  What are your options now? Do you have any?

It doesnt look like it could just be moved down by a seamstress. The pattern wouldnt have lined up. It looks like she pinched the lace together and tacked it down.

That said, I really love it both ways. Im a sucker for lace. It in no way looks “wrong” and without seeing the before picture I would have never known it wasnt supposed to be the way it is now. Enjoy it! Im sure you will be a beautiful bride!

I looked at the pictures, the larger ones show the lace clearly. The pattern is exactly like the original, just moved down, and I don’t see where you think they cut off the top squiggly lace bit and only moved that down. I think what you’re seeing is that they moved the whole piece, but kind of towards the middle the seamstress had to “scootch” the lace down a bit becuse the curve of the lace doesn’t match the curve of the neckline exactly, so she just made it follow the neckline so it wouldn’t look weird. Otherwise, you can see all the parts of the lace applique exactly where they are in relation to parts in the original (the swoopies, dots, squiggles, etc … those are technical terms ya know lol)

I wouldn’t be worried about it, it looks beautiful. I was concerned at first with the small photos you posted, but the larger ones show the alterations much more clearly, and its obvious that your seamstress is very skilled.

I think it looks much, much better without the lace hanging over the edges! The job they did looks lovely to me so I wouldn’t be too worried. 🙂
