You look absolutely gorgeous!! I agree with a couple of the pp’s above. The dress would look even more flattering if you purchased the gown in a size larger, giving you a bit of wiggle room at the waist/hip area. Then, adding pads at the bust will give you even more of a wow-factor! Congrats on finding a lovely gown that is unique too!
Wow, you look gorgeous!!! I just went back up to read the body of the message (so I am editing my response), I don’t think the attention is drawn to the hips unless you tell people to look for that in the picture. Without reading your messaage and looking at the pictures only I thought you look beautiful, and after reading the message and looking at your hips I still think you rock the dress. 🙂
I didn’t read your post but looked immediately to the picture, and my eye was drawn to the tummy area as well. I think is it partially because of the downward V; it creates a round tummy area on the dress that isn’t very flattering. I do like the straps a lot. After reading your post, yes, I think an A-line dress would flatter your small waist better than this dress.
I think this dress is absolutely stunning on you! You have a beautiful hourglass shape and this dress shows it off perfectly. You do need to feel comfortable though, so ultimately you need to make the decision based on what YOU feel… not on what others think.
I think it looks good on you. My dress did the same type of thing, and having bigger hips (even though I’m a nice hourglass) I didn’t want it to look too tight or sexy for my wedding day. The dress maker was able to make it into a modified A so it wasn’t as tight up top. Is that an option?
I just want to specify that I went and looked at the pic first before reading the description. I always do so becasue the bride usually describes what she dosn’t like, and I like to make my own opinion first. I’m sorry, I don’t want my opinion to be hurtful, and never criticise unless the poster asks for honesty, I just wrote what I think. I don’t like people telling me why I think something.
I don’t want to be rude, I think Mrs. Brown has an awsome bod, I’d trade, but form fitting dresses like that look good on very few people at least IMO.
I think you look gorgeous!! If youre worried about the midsection…just get spanx! I’ve heard they work wonders 🙂
I must say… my eye was drawn to the tummy too. I think its because the dress is slightly too small around that area. If you got a seamstress to let it out just a tad, then I dont think that it will be an issue. (I looked at the picture before reading the post too)
I do think that it looks awesome from the back though.
I actually love that dress. I think it excentuates you in a good way without completely drawing your eyes to areas you wouldn’t want them.
I agree that spanx would help but you don’t NEED them. They might just be a confidence booster. I think the dress makes your figure look great
Hi everyone, thanks for all your comments – negatives ones also as I did ask for honesty so it’s appreciated. I think I will see if the seamstress can let it out a tiny bit on the hips to see if that helps so it’s slightly more A-line. It’s currently much too big on my top half so once that’s fitted I’ll have a nice cleavage and it will be more nipped at the wasit. Also I’m hoping to be more toned around the tummy by the time my wedding comes and will also try spanx to disguise any lumps and bumps!
Just wanted to check with you guys that I hadn’t made the wrong decision as it’s been on my mind. But I think it’s because I usually always try to hide my hips so it feels weird having them on display! The lady in the shop did say that a proper a line gown would probably not show of my waist as well as having my hips compltely hidden would mean that my waist wouldn’t look as small in comparison if that maekes sense!
You look absolutely wonderful in that dress. It fits you perfectly. No worries about it. 😀
