Now, I found this dress while researching vintage dresses for ideas on a different dress. I bought a dress a while ago for a steal and I still love it, but I fell out of love with it for my wedding, so I returned it.
It’s very modest– very very– modest. It’s very out of the box, so to speak but I feel it speaks to me. I do own a few dresses from this store already, but they are strapless and everyday dresses. Vintage dresses are not a new style for me.
Be honest, and don’t be timid. I’m going to see if they sell in in their store and, if so, will go to try it on sometime this month. It’s this picture that hooked me:
I can see me with some pink shoes and a fluffy pink petticoat and a pillbox hat! My mother thinks that I like it because I think my arms are fat and the sleeves will be more slimming. Also, she thinks it’s a bit of a costume and people won’t get it.
I don’t want to look like I’m wearing a costume. Is that the vibe you get?

I love it! It shows enough leg to not be dated (at least to me, I have vintage taste though) Its very vintage chic and I think the pillbox hat would be fantastic with it! Post pics when you go and try it on!!

There is nothing wrong with not having your arms or shoulders out, be it for a specific social/religious reason or just because you like the style of the dress! It isn’t like it is a floor and wrist length potato sack, it is a style of dress that happens to have sleeves. And a stinkin’ awesome one at that!

I actually TOTALLY smiled when I saw that pic. Not sure why, but yes, it does have some wonderful character and is definitely worth trying on!!

I love it! It’s gorgeous and unique. If it expresses your personality and style, then it will look that much better on you. You should definitely go for it.
(The bridesmaids dresses in the picture look a bit witchy to me, though, so I hope you choose something else for them.)

I think it is cute and retro!

I think the dress can only look costume-ish if that is usually not your style. I think the dress is fantastic though!

there was no option for other, it isn’t my taste, but I don’t think it is out-of-date/costumeish/for poor body image, so i choose other.

I love it! And just sayin…isn’t a bridal gown sort of a costume anyway? I mean you wouldn’t wear one around to run your errands and the dress speaks to your role “the bride”…but yeah it’s supes cute!
Does it actually slenderize your arms? I know sleeves actually make my arms look bigger :/ I have wide shoulders.

It’s beautiful, and I think you should add a “I love it!” box in your poll! That’s what I’m going for as well, although I think I’ll go for a more “Lacy” look (my current obsession). Anyway, post pictures when you try it on, would love to see it!

its very fifties (and I LOVE bridal fashion from the fifties, so that’s actually a good thing lol) & I love your idea of a coloured fluffy petticoat underneath. So cute.

I love it. I love vintage styles anyway. A coloured petticoat underneath would be fantastic, and I’d maybe suggest a strong colour for shoes (I don’t know what shade of pink you’re going for?) and possibly the belt, just to make everything pop.
